I just updated to Safari 5.1.4 via software update. My bank is FirstBank - efirstbank.com - now when I attempt to login, it goes into an endless loop; it appears to be a javascript issue. The site opens fine in FireFox. I am running OS 10.7.3, BTW.

Anyone else having issue with the new Safari? Is there an easy way to downgrade it? I prefer having all my business stuff running in tabs on one browser...

    Hi...

    Maybe not a Javascript issue...

Open Keychain Access located in /Applicaitions/Utilities

    Select Passwords on the left.

Type in the name of your bank in the search field top right corner of that window.

Now right or control click that keychain then click Delete.

Now, in Safari, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Autofill tab.

Make sure User names and passwords is selected.

Navigate to your bank site. Enter your user name and password. Click Yes when you see the prompt to save that data to a new keychain.

Sorry, but it's not possible to downgrade Safari versions.

    You can always Reset Safari...

Go to the Apple Menu bar click on "Safari" title and look for the option that says "Reset Safari". You'll see a list of checkboxes with items that will be affected by the operation, uncheck those you don't want to be affected. Once you finish your selection click "OK" and confirm the operation. Safari will close and reopen in an instant.

This operation clears, caches, cookies, and other miscellaneous items that could be causing your issue.

Good Luck and keep us posted!

Did you try 64-bit mode? Go to Finder> Applications> Safari. Select Safari to highlight it then hit the command+I keys. A dialog should pop up if the Open in 32-bit box is checked, uncheck it, relaunch Safari, and go to your banks website and test.

I'm having a similar problem.   I can log in to the site fine.  However, when I try to use it nothing works.   The whole site is javascript powered -- the scripts just don't seem to process.  Clicking links that are supposed to open e.g. account information just don't do anything -- no visible activity.   Trying to switch to other pages in the site just leads to blank white pages.  It worked fine with the previous version of Safari, and works fine now with Firefox. 11.

I have tried resetting Safari.   It is running in 64 bit mode.   I tried re-installing Safari from the manual installer downloaded from Apple.   No change.

    Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Safari 5.1.4

I use firstbank. Had the same problem when I updated to 5.1.4. Obviously an Apple problem. Interestingly enough, it worked fine when I tried the slightly-updated nightly webkit version of safari. So I've been using that. They just released safari 5.1.5 and it STILL has the same error. C'mon Apple, fix it.

The Safari 5.1.5 update didn't fix it. I had been using the workaround of accessing BofA through their mobile website (www.bofa.mobi/) but 5.1.5 fried that version of the site, too.

    Try downloading Apple's in-progress safari:

    http://nightly.webkit.org/

I'm on a prior version that works fine with firstbank even though the official safari does not.

Perhaps it will work for you.

    Same problem here with http://www.ourbank.com

This site works fine on my iPad, but Safari 5.1.5 on Lion 10.7.3 with all current updates installed (security, java, etc)  will not bring up the site.  Nor will Chrome.  Nor will Internet Explorer running under Parallels.  Same thing on a Mac Pro and MacBook Pro.

Standalone XP machine with Internet Explorer works fine - as does iPad (IOS 5.1), as I said.  So, something about one of the recent Apple updates is blocking this site...
