Q: erase and restore from time machine
I have a Macbook, about 2 yrs old, SL 6.7. Bought Lion upgrade, but it freezes. Disk Utility says hd can't be repaired. following its instruction, started up from OSX 6 DVD, went to disk utility from there to do repair. That failed, with a message to format (and name?) the hard drive (the whole thing or only the MacBook icon below the whole thing?); default is Mac OS Extended (Journaled) which is presumably correct. I'm afraid to do this, but I will. I have time machine backup from yesterday (and days earlier and weeks, etc).
So, help: what are the incidental answers to incidental Qs above? If I erase and re-install SN6, do I then have to do anything other than to restore from the backup drive? The instructions have all kinds of issues with reinstalling software, registering accounts, login into networks, creating a Mac account probably mail too, printers, etc.
don't I have all of that stuff from my time machine restore?
What do I really have to do after I click on that irreversible erase button?
Thanks
