Did you read this I posted a few weeks ago.
(It's the mBox avid/digidesign driver causing the problem.)
See if there's still a digidesign MIDI driver installed.
It would be in Root/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers.
Also: Users/YourName/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers

Ya, i looked in those folders and found no files in them.

I'm not using Lion but I've heard that Lion may make some files/folders invisible to the user, I wonder if that's the problem. Look for a menu command while in the Library folder.

Well I got it fixed, I installed the pro tools le disk that i had laying around and uninstalled everthing and it must have got that stupid file. but now im upset because what interface am I going to be able to use now? both the mbox (digidesign) and my tascam us122 don't work anymore with lion in logic pro 9.

That's too bad, I thought the mBox would work with audio only, it's the Digidesign Core MIDI driver that's incompatible. Unfortunately many older USB devices broke under Lion.
The ones that would work with the initial Lion release were broken after the last Lion update.
You've tried the last US-122 driver Tascam released, version 3.40?
If you've been with Apple a long time you know that continual upgrading of something or other is part of the game.

ya i installed them today the 3.4 tascam driver. And i've been with apple for about 2 years and I've not seen this kind of thing happen. This really messes a lot of people up. I mean what about people who have recording studio's and important projects to do and they use these interfaces!

Studios will be using much higher end gear. The initial investment of a pro interface usually means driver support will last much longer. Both the mBox and the US-122 are discontinued devices. Also, Apple changes things at their whim and many manufacturer's will not support Apple's upgrade cycle, especially with consumer or semi-pro hardware. I do know that the US-122 still works on Windows 7, probably the mBox as well. Because of the large business base MS doesn't usually do anything drastic to I/O devices since there's such a wide variety of hardware that needs to remain supported.
p.s. if you're running in 64-bit, might try running the Tascam install in 32-bit, see if it works, then switch back to 64.
