Simply copy the folders to the equivalent locations on your other Macs

    This is a big list:

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:Logic

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:garageband:Instrument Library

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Apple Loops

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Impulse Responses

    That should (?) be it

    CCT

CCT - Thanks for the list of locations.

I'm trying to verify that the installed content has all been correctly downloaded. Would it be possible for you to confirm the directories/sizes that should be created under the Application Support & Audio folders?

I had some previously installed content & in an attempt to reduce the download time checked the option to not download the existing content.

    What I have currently is:

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:Logic     Total Size=4.36GB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:Logic:Project Templates     1.1MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:Logic:Logic Pro Demo Songs     204.5MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:Logic:Channel Strip Settings     112.7MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:Logic:Plug-In Settings     29.6MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:Logic:Sampler Instruments     41.5MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:Logic:EXS Factory Samples     3.06MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:Logic:Ultrabeat Samples     942MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Application Support:GarageBand     Total Size=14.36MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:     Total Size=3.25GB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple:Jam Pack 1     244.6MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple:Jam Pack Remix Tools     450.8MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple:Jam Pack Rhythm Section     415.9MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple:Jam Pack World Music     640.9MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple:Jam Pack Voices     313.4MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple:Apple Loops for GarageBand     244.2MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Impulse Responses:     Total Size=1.82GB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Impulse Responses:Apple:01 Large Spaces     245.3MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Impulse Responses:Apple:02 Medium Spaces     55.9MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Impulse Responses:Apple:03 Small Spaces     27.1MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Impulse Responses:Apple:04 Surround Spaces     898.1MB

    <Startup Disk>:Library:Audio:Impulse Responses:Apple:05 Warped     591.1MB

The total size of the above is 23.79GB.

Is there anything else that should be installed?

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

Having gone through it, I can confidently say that this is NOT a download that I would ever attempt again.

I first attempted this 'hefty' downlaod on Tuesday, March 12th and after 11-hours, the Logic Pro and Man=inStage download had still not properly downloaded.  It was riddles with missing or corrupted files, and my line speed is easily >5Mbps (usually faster).

Keep in mind, despite all of what has been said above by previous posters, this download is somehere in the neighborhood of 20-25GB in total size (not 415MB, not 1.2GB and not 2,3GB). It's 20+GB!!!! And more importantly, most of thoe gigabytes will require M<ULTIPLE downloadings before they are sccesfully transfered.

I'm now at Friday, March 16th, and after four days and multiple hours on the phone with Apple Tech Support, the two programs STILL do not have their complete (functional) content. Apple's suggested solution for me is to compltely REFORMAT my primary (system) drive! Are they kidding?!@#$%^&*?

I cannot possibly say it any LOUDER or CLEARER . . . my recommendation is that you NOT attempt this reduced price ($199) Logic Pro 9.1.6 download. It will bring nothing but trauma to your life.

I had no problem at all. Downloaded without an error and as fast as possible. Can only recommend.

(Maybe it's a temporary problem due to LOTS of new iPad software downloads???)

Well, then you were obviously one of the fortunate ones, and hopefully, you won't experience any future troubles with it or the hard drive that it resides on, because if you do, you'll get the pleasure of repeating the process, start to finish, over and over again, which could be problematic since today, like most days, Apple's Logic/MainStage servers are perpetually busy (i.e., they won't allow access).

Oh and uh, just FYI . . .  Apple has confirmed that they are in the process of permanently phasing-out all distribution of software on disc or other physical media, so good luck!

No problem - I have backups.

    Uh-huh, of course you do!

    As I said, good luck.

This worked for me.  After downloading all the packages to the directory where Logic keeps its temporary files during the startup process, Logic was able to complete the installation.  Thanks for the tip!

  • dougj99 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Yes- Thank you very much for posting those links. I was able to install all of them *except* the 4.3 Gb "Pro Audio additional content" package. Either within Logic or externally I get an error trying to install it.

I repaired permissions and I even tried making a different administrator login as someone suggested, to no avail.

Is there a listing somewhere of what all is in that package? I'd like to at the very least know what I am missing.

    Thanks!
    Doug

    GeorgyK,

    thanks a ton

followed all the instructions and got it to work

the only thing that differed for me was finding the location of the packet

    /private/var/folders

that file path worked for me

glad i can finally start using Logic

3 attempts, guess the 4th is the charm

Total, unadulterated time suck troubleshooting this. Steve must be turning in his grave.....

Nice one Macinbosh - I've been trying to download this stuff via Mainstage as i wanted the JamPacks back for Garageband. Problem is with Mainstage you have to download the 4.6GB Mainstage / Logic additional components before the Jam Packs and my Broadband is flaky at the moment. 8 attempts, all stalled at around 2.5GB. With your links all is going fine and I don't have to worrty about the Mainstage bit for now. Many thanks for the info

    Hi,

I downloaded the files from the link-list, but I can not install the packages :-((

I get every time a checksum error when i want to install a package.

    I have logic pro 9 V9.1.8 , OSX 10.8.2

    please can anyone help me...

You might want to research this in more detail as I'm not sure what the consequences may be - but you can uncheck "Verify Checksums" in Disk Utility preferences.

Go to Finder > Go > Utilities > Disk Utility. Once launched, go to Disk Utility menu > Preferences and you''l see an option to uncheck at the top.

Like I say, this may cause other issues as checksum verification can probably protect you from corrupt downloads - I really don't know.

I wouldn't do this. The checksums should be correct!

gumsl - Are you really sure that your downloads were 100% completed before you copied the files from your Downloads folder to another location?

  • gumsl Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

    Thanks for your quick reply!

In my desperation I deleted the sound files and reinstall the aditional content from logic pro.

lo and behold now everything was well

I made the download now with wlan (=lower speet) maybe this is better for the downlodet file....

    thanks again for your reply

    Manfred
