    Hello all,

I just purchased a mac book pro with Internet issues as many of you have had. I recently discovered a solution to the issues some might be having. Changing my router from broadcasting at 2.4 Ghz to broadcasting both 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz made a world of a difference. Many routers have this option and even to broadcast both or either frequency. It allowed the speed to increase drastically from 10 min on youtube to 20 sec full load clip. I have done nothing other than change the frequency settings on the router no ip, dhcp, dns, subnet, or anything else. I hope this might help others which have had this issue. Best wishes!

I have been working with Verizon FiOs for over 6 weeks and it seems something with their Network -  I was having slow download speeds, off the verizon network (speedtest.net, speakeasy.net/speedtest) - using the Verizon Speedtest both on the MAC side and PC side no problem (speedtest.verizon.net.  It seems that the problem may have been resolved today because overnight the speeds poped back to normal.

I was having a similar problem to all of those discussed here. Like some others found removing IP Flood Detection from the router's firewall has fixed the problem. I realize it probably is not a good/general solution but at least it worked for me.

Well, my firewalls (on the Mac and on the router) are both off.

    The issue is still there.

    I think I'll change router.

Did you try changing your DNS server address to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 ?

    Folks,

Ever since the lastest OS X upgrade (10.7.3) the problem seems to have gone away on my network. I am no longer using Google's DNS server addresses and even FireFox runs as fast as on any other computer. I have connected from many different wireless and wired networks withouth any problems.

Yes of course! I've tried a lot of solutions...

I have 2 macbook pro 17 (mid 2010 and late 2011) and both of them have 10.7.3 (clean install). 100 Mbps internet connection. Airport Express latest model with default settings.

10.7.3 -> Internet and File transfer - max 40 Mbps (via cable max 97 Mbps)

10.6.8 and Windows 7 SP1 -> Internet and File transfer - max 80 Mbps (via cable max 97 Mbps)

I think the problem with OS X Lion definitely!

I don't understand why Apple wants to present a new OS X if the current OS X has a lot of ******* bugs ?! Thanks Apple! But I know why ... it's a ******* business!

I commented earlier but somehow it disappeared...curious.  Anyway I too am having this problem, and nothing seems to help.  At first I would have to quit chrome then reopen it and that seemed to help.  Recently however that doesn't help either.  I am at my wits end.  The only solution I have found so far is to partition ones drive and run windows 7.  sadly the internet works fine after that.

As I understand you've had a problem with internet provider...

I have 100Mbps cable internet... If I connect via cable then everything is ok but if I connect via WiFi then ... problems... The problem with OS X Lion definitely!

I installed Wifi Analyzer on Android phone and could see three other wifi points using the same frequency range.  I changed the default frequency it used  and upgraded the firm ware to the latest version.  This was over a month ago and I have not noticed the issue since.

Same problem.  Apple, this discussion link has been going since August 2011; how come you haven't fixed it.

I am Macbook Pro 17, and upgraded so that Calender on the Mac would sync in with iCloud.

It was excrutiating just signing in to type this message.  The change in speed is simply unacceptable.

I have my original iPad on my desk next to the computer, as per usual, running through same wifi router.  Internet sites load much quicker - as they always have.

When will this problem get fixed.  I see a couple of fixes people have put in these links but I am not a computer expert and there is no way I could do this, and why should I pay for a technician to fix a problem I have not created?

After trying everything listed in these forums as a fix (both this thread and others), this finally helped (disable IP flood detection within the router).

A history of my issues.  Have a late 2008 iMac and late 2011 Mac Mini, both running the latest version of Lion.  Immediately after upgrading to Lion (and immediately after purchasing Mac Mini with Lion pre-installed) started experiencing Internet issues.  The connection would simply act as if it dropped.  It would last a different amount of time every time it happened.  It is not my router as all other devices (iPhones, Blackberries & Windows 7 Machines) could access Internet during these so-called Internet issues on machines running Lion.

I like the theory that Lion overloads the router as the connection issues happened most often when Safari would sit on pages that auto refresh (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), or running apps that constantly pinged those services (Facetab, or the Twitter app).

It's still early, as all fixes appeared to work temporarily, however this one seems to boost my connection speed back to where it was pre-Lion.  Thanks for the tip!

Although, I'm not thrilled about reducing Internet security.  Apple, please fix.

call your isp, and see if your bandwith is being slowed because of them.
