Just downloading the new iPhoto 9.2.2

It claims "Photos können jetzt aus dem Photo Stream gelöscht werden". (You now can delete Photos from Photo Stream) - I hope we will be seeing this soon in Aperture, too - finally.

So if you have iPhoto installed, at least you now can weed out your Photo Stream by

    • Quitting Aperture,
    • Launching iPhoto and activating the Photo Stream in iPhoto,
    • Turning on the Photo Stream in iPhoto,
    • Deleting all embarrasing shots from the Photo Stream,
    • Quitting iPhoto,
    • Launching Aperture and reactivating the Photo Stream,

I just got rid of some shots this way that have been annoying me for month, without having to reset the Photo Stream - what a relief!

It took some time, though, to reread the nearly 1000 images in the stream ..

    Regards

    Léonie

I hope they release this feature including Aperture 4 soon

More and more I read on the Internet blogs and forums, people start investigating Lightroom or migratie from AP3 to lightroom. I hope again for a release soon and that Aperture is still a app for the photografpy profressional.

iPhoto? I'm not sure why you are referring to iPhoto.

When I upgraded to iOS 5.1, I went into Photo Stream on my phone and deleted photos. Then I launched Aperture and the photos I deleted on my phone were now out of Aperture.

I didn't try deleting from Aperture, but I assume it would work the same. Did you try deleting your photos in Aperture first? That didn't work?

I believe leonieDF is referring to iPhoto to offer information.

Her point is that now you can delete individual images from Photostream with iOS5.1 and iPhoto 9.2.2 and she expressed the hope that this feature will soon be added to Aperture.

Currently you cannot delete photos from the Photostream with Aperture. It doesn't work the same.

iPhoto? I'm not sure why you are referring to iPhoto.

Because I want to be able to edit the Photo Stream on my Mac using a decently sized screen. Most of the pictures in my Photo Stream are added when I import from my camera on one of my macs, and I use the stream to transfer them to my other macs.

But thanks for pointing out that you now can edit the stream on your mobile devices as well, very helpful, but I like to see an image at a better resolution before I delete it.

I didn't try deleting from Aperture, but I assume it would work the same. Did you try deleting your photos in Aperture first? That didn't work?

    You are an optimist

Until recently it has been impossible to edit the Photo Stream on any device; since day before yesterday you can do it in iPhoto, but still not in Aperture.

    Cheers

    Thanks TD, for clariying that.

That is exactly what I wanted to say.

Oh. I missed the fact that there is now an iPhoto version 9.2.2.

The new version supports deleting photos in Photo Stream? Odd that they released an iPhoto version for this, but not an Aperture version. Is that odd, or cause for concern?

The phone was the first place I tried it, since I had thought that was the only SW that was updated to handle deleting photos. I had missed the fact that a new version of iPhoto also came out.

I had missed the fact that a new version of iPhoto also came out.

I did not notice either till last night, when I browsed the iPhoto Forum.

It is a pity that you actually have to launch the App Store.app to see if any Application needs updating. I liked it better when the Apps told us, whenever an update was available.

My App Store Dock icon has a numbered badge (very like the Mail Dock icon) that tells me when updates are available.  (Still battling the cold mountain air, 10.6.8.)  Of course, that's for only App Store apps.

Stay there - seems to be perfect for cool thinking I bet, you will return towing a Mountain Lion along and leave us behind still struggling with the Lion.

I see, I should have left the App Store icon in the Dock - it was the first thing I removed because I am not very fond of shopping.

Thanks a lot Kirby, now I know how to spend the last 10 points I have left.

    Cheers

Have the new version, delete photos that I don't want in photostream and lo n behold, there they are again next time I start Aperture.

Same on IOS devices. Why is it so difficult to delete photos in Photostream?

That is interesting - in my Photo Stream not a single image has reappeared, unless I added it again to the stream. But I sync only with one IOS device, but between three different Macs.

Does anybody else have problems with reappearing Photo Stream images?

Strange. I had a similar problem and solved it, but I'm not sure how.

Symptoms: delete Photo Stream photos on iPad, iPhone and in Aperture library. They stayed deleted on iPad and iPhone, but reappeared in Aperture after each restart.

Theory one: I just waited long enough, and some timeout realised that the photos actually were not there.

Theory two:  I have most of my photos on an external harddisk, and that harddisk was not connected, when I deleted the Photo Stream files. Once I connected the external harddisk, Aperture realised that the Photo Stream was empty.

Theory two makes no sense in theory, as the Photo Stream files were not stored on the external harddisk. However, there may be some peculiar block in Aperture that first wants to verify referenced files, before it removed Photo Stream photos.
