Q: Questions about charging the new-ipad

Hello,

 

I'm still trying to identify wich one between the ipad2 or the new-ipad will be perfect for my and wife use.

As you can imagine, the major point is about the battery.

 

- I've got a late 2010 macbook-pro, I can't identify if usb ports will be powerfull enough to charge the new-ipad. I've only read along the web "newer mac can, older can't". Can someone help me identify if late-2010 is an old or young enough macbook pro ?

 

- Is it technically and commercially possible that we'll see a "speedier" charger to come onto the market oneday ?

No.  You might have a fire hose charger but it's still connected to a garden hose iPad input connector that accepts no more than two amps.

    Either iPad comes with its own 2A 10W wall charger. Use it to charge your iPad, not the computer.

    So :

    "Note: Apple computers and displays that were introduced before 2007 support only 500 mA at 5 V from their ports and do not offer additional power."

     

    Crossing with other reads, new-iPad will maybe charge veeery slowly on my mbp with screen/wifi shutted down. Not useful!

     

    And ok/thanks for an impossible "faster" charger explanation..
