Q: IBook g3 300mhz Airport Wifi issues OS X 10.3.9

Hello, I am having some trouble with the Ibook that i just bought, I have just installed a airport card and it has recognised it from what i can see but when i used the mac help guide to try and connect  it my router, it asks me to use the "connect internet" app, and when i click open this for me it says it is disabled or not installed, Is there any other way i can connect to the wifi or if not how can i install this app?

Thanks!

Mike.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

The router must be backward compatible to the 802.11b standard used by the original AirPort Card (and set to mixed mode which includes 802.11b).

What form of encryption are you using on your network? The original AirPort Card cannot do WPA2, but should be okay with WPA whereas you are using Mac OS X 10.3.

Sorry about the long time to reply, I did a fresh install of mac os 10.3 and it updated to 10.3.9, I now have the Internet connect app but i still cannot pick up any wifi networks where ever i am, I have checked and re checked the airport card antenna etc but ive had no luck. Is it possible that i have a bad airport card?

    Thanks for the help.

That's possible. It's also possible (although less likely) that any network you try to access uses a router which is too new to support the 802.11b standard.

It doesn't happen very often, but I did have an AirPort Card fail on me one time.
