Mar 13, 2012 3:17 AM in response to debilemaniacby debilemaniac,GUYS !
Here is the answer to make iCloudCP to work behind a squid proxy :
Running tshark on my firewall, I've found that iCloud CP uses 2 differents user-agents to access your account :
- User-Agent: iCloud.exe (unknown version) CFNetwork/520.2.6\r\n
- User-Agent: Microsoft-CryptoAPI/6.1\r\n
The second one was really unexpected !
Once connected, others may appear as :
- ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe (unknown version) CFNetwork/520.2.6\r\n
So I have modified my squid configuration to make it work (in squid.conf) :
acl iCloudCP browser -i ^iCloud.exe
acl iCloudCP browser -i ^Microsoft-CryptoAPI
http_access allow iCloudCP
Now it works !
All my photo stream is downloading, everything works !
I hope that could help some of you...
Regards!

Mar 21, 2012 3:59 PM in response to debilemaniacby freakkk,It seems like this forum topic is about a variety of iCloud log on problems. After flipping through several of the pages, I have seen several people posting that when they try to log in they just get a spinning progress wheel (although that wasn't the initial posters problem they described..). If the spinning wheel issue is the issue you are having, I posted a fix in a different forum post that I found that worked on my windows 7 64-bit desktop:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3811063?tstart=0
I was having same issue here (using windows 7 64-bit). iCloud control panel used to work fine for me before this last update, but then it stopped letting me sign in. After entering apple id and password, just hangs with the spinning progress wheel forever..
I tried uninstalling, rebooting, and then reinstalling the control panel, but still did the same thing. I also tried changing my iCloud password; new password worked fine for signing onto icloud.com and from my iPhone 4S but still not from the control panel. The strange part was let it would let me log into it with my wife's apple id ??
That got me experimenting some more and I realized that the control panel worked fine from a different user profile on my windows computer! After experimenting and nosing around in my profiles 'AppData' folder, I managed to get it to work again:
- If you have iCloud control panel log in window open, close it
- Copy this path to your clipboard:
%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Preferences
- Goto start -> run
- Paste the path and hit enter
- From the folder that is opened, rename 'MobileMeAccounts.plist' out of the way (or you can delete it if want..)
- Restart iCloud control panel and try logging on again. MobileMeAccounts.plist is regenerated the next time you sign out from control panel.
I'm guessing that somehow my (our) original MobileMeAccounts.plist has some sort of corruption in it, or maybe some log in attempt got hosed somehow and its preventing it from even trying? Who knows...
Hope it works out for you too!! ~~Corey

Mar 28, 2012 12:30 PM in response to froobielooby whathefox,If you are on a domain with roaming profiles icloud will not work profperly. If the users app data is romaing. You will not be able sing in the first time.
What i did was log in as the administrators accoutns whos data does not romain. Setup the icloud porfile, no issues singing in. Then copy the "c:\users\administrator\appdata\roaming\apple" folder to the user in questions roaming app folder.
If you do not have romaing app foler try to copy it to the users local app folder.

Mar 29, 2012 10:25 AM in response to whathefoxby Ipad therefore I am,I would also add.
If you have folder redirection in place then copy the folder from c:\users\administrator\appdata\roaming\apple" to the folder redirection location on the network.
Seemed to fix my issue.

Mar 29, 2012 7:03 PM in response to froobielooby UHChick,I have been trying to figure out how to access my account through iCloud on my work pc for a couple of weeks now. I admit I am not techie saavy and have been lost with glazed eyes reading some of the above responses. Not to mention, I cannot screw-up this computer - so I'm running in circles. But what really irritates me is that all the "fixes" are download this or that --- Folks, it's email! Blasted Yahoo and Gmail have figured out how to be accessed on any computer without downloading programs and disabling firewalls.
Sorry Apple --- I'm not an iCloud fan.
Then again... maybe this was Apple's brilliant marketing plan. The rebirth of MobileMe. If it is, well, Apple, you win - I want my MobileMe account again (requiring no download or disabling to access). I'd be willing to pay double to have me.com agian.
Just hurry, please. Before I lose my phone again and can't access Find my Phone from work.

Apr 14, 2012 9:33 AM in response to andyinmalmesburyby cj.sutton,Migrating your files is easy and takes ten seconds... just make the new user, log in. Then make a new admin user, log in on it, right click on "My Computer" and choose properties. Click Advanced settings, Advanced tab, click the "Settings" button under User Profiles. Highlight your old account and choose "Copy to" then choose your new account... confirm everything else.

May 16, 2012 8:02 PM in response to kennethfromdurbanby loveforone,This was a tremendous help. I was having the same problems everyone else was having and spent hours on the phone with Tech Support but got no answer. This however solved my problem. I just signed into my MobileMe control panel and it then took me straight into my iCloud control panel just fine. When I logged out and then back in it worked just fine. Thank you greatly.

Jun 1, 2012 10:09 AM in response to Flyfisherbearby tonestan,Well I have now read all these solutions and none seem to work for me. I have no Mobileme account, there is not the file mentioned in the c:\user\appsdata\roaming mentioned previously.
I can get it all to work woth a new user but of course all my files etc are in my normal current user. Some setting somewhere is wrong but I have no idea what or where. Apple have no idea what is wrong either! I have turned stuff on and aoof, rebooted etc etc etc but no joy.
Perhaps I will just not use iCloud and manage other ways, but it doesn't make me happy!

Jun 7, 2012 1:31 PM in response to froobielooby nancyrector,Tried it all... nothing works. Guess I'll keep checking this thread in the future hoping for that miracle fix.

Jun 7, 2012 1:37 PM in response to nancyrectorby tonestan, yep, same as me. There is no doubt something in a setting or a process or service running which stops it connecting. Someone soemwhere must know whats going on very disappointed Apple can't solve this. Having the icloud facility on my PC was one of the deciding points about purchasing an ipad - now it doesn't work I am having to do workarounds. Not really satisfactory.
