I'm trying to run some stuff on my iPhone 4s running 5.1. Xcode tells me that 5.1 is not supported.

I'm running XCode 4.2.1. I attempted to install the 5.1 SDK on the Dev portal but it doesn't take. XCode remains stuck with only 5.0.

I attempted to update to 4.3.1 via the app store, it downloaded, installed and ... still have 4.2.1... Wonderful. So I read the comments, lots of people complaining about how it doesn't work or whatever, nothing useful then finally someone says "App store version isn't actually installing 4.3.1, you have to go get it from the dev portal" Fine, so I go grab me a brand spanking new copy of xcode_4.3.1_for_lion.dmg and it fails to open.

xcode_4.3.1_for_lion.dmg Invalid Checksum. Wonderful, corrupted image. So I download with another browser, same deal.

What gives? I can't seem to develop for my 5.1 device with 4.2.1 and I cannot upgrade to 4.3.1 at all. Do I have to downgrade to 5.0 just to do anything? Why am I having so much trouble getting 4.3.1?

Using a wired or Wi-Fi network?

I'm on wifi, same problem. Appstore wouldn't upgrade me to 4.3.1, so I tried the dmg and got invalid checksum twice.

Wired only for the win... Apple even advises it for certain recent downloads.

    Wireless.

I'll attempt a wired connection and see how that goes.

Ugh, finally! I never got the Mr. Fusion upgrade, so I had to fill my DeLorean with gasoline (at today's prices!), zip back to 1992 to find this thing you call a "wire", zip back to the present only to find that this so-called wire is not any faster than wireless.

But now I have 4.3.1, thanks!

Always good news...thanks for the update and good luck w/your apps.

Same is happening to me, only that wired is not an option as I am using a MacBook Air and don't have a wired adapter (just in case there is such a thing).

I tried getting XCode 4.3 from the app store. Says it is installed. Tried rebooting.

I'm still on xcode 4.2 and don't have iOS 5.1 SDK so I'm dead in the water and cannot deploy to my devices, which I updated to 5.1 (Silly me?).

    Any idea?

Same here, the app store says installed, clicking does nothing. It just won't update my Xcode ver 4.2.1 to 4.3.

Could be a problem at the server end.

    At the moment, no idea!

I went through similar experience (ktatsiu.wordpress.com)

The Update mechanism of XCode 4.2.1 never works. It will always show "installed" and will not give you update notification.

Note from Apple Developer site: https://developer.apple.com/xcode/

Note: To get the latest version of Xcode, you will need to click the "View in Mac App Store" button to the right and download from the new Xcode product page. The update from Xcode 4.2 will not show up in the Mac App Store "Updates" tab. Updates will work as normal for Xcode 4.3 and later.

Here is my way to fix this:

    1) Remove the install XCode dmg package in /Applications.

    2) Go to App Store and search for XCode.

    3) The XCode will show "Free" now.

Starting from version 4.3, XCode is no longer installed to /Developer. XCode 4.3.2 is now distributed as standalone app Xcode.app in Application folder. All the tools previously in /Developer are now bundled inside the Xcode.app.

It's just that apple has not managed the update efficiently. The new app sits in Applications folder instead of Developer folder. Go ahead and launch it. The new app will do the housekeeping by deleting the old app and install Xcode app.

Baseline : After the update from App store is completed, go to Applications folder and launch XCode. Do as prompted.

    Good Luck.
