Q: Mag Safe plugs keep failing

I've had my Macbook for 3 years, each year I have to buy a new mag safe power adapter. I'm not some extreme user, the connection between the coupling and the cord is incredibly poorly designed. I had a PowerPC powerbook 12" before and never had a failure. My computer (and mag safe) goes to the lab and back home and that's it. Do these plugs have a warranty? I'm on my third one and it is starting to fail the same way (where the cord meets the magnetic plug at the computer). At least time it's less than a year old, if there is a warranty.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Unibody 13" MacBook

My tee style one failed years ago. This is the second of the straight line design "replacements" I've had fail. In the exact same manner, no less, as the original tee design.

Be sure that you unplug the MagSafe connector correctly.  Wrapping the power adapter cord around your hand, and then giving it a sharp jerk is not the proper method.

And where in any of the posts do either of the posters state they wrap the cord around there hands and Jerk it out?

I'm going to make a genius appointment to see if they'll consider replacing it. I just looked at my receipt and I purchased this charger in July of 2011. That's completely unacceptable for day to day use, especially when I had a Powerbook from 2005-2009 and never ONCE had to replace the charger.

I never unplug it this way, Carl, mostly because I'm incredibly paranoid after my last two failures.

this is amieagain....i hate that half the time this site rejects my original amieagain username and other times it takes it....but that's another issue all together.

i don't pull my plug out wrong.

i brought it to the apple store.

the had to reset it by holding option, command, delete and the off button at the same time.  it worked. i think it's BS that this happens this way to me all the time, but what can you do? it has never happend to my daughter and her macbook...but i have a macbook pro....
