My less than 1 year old desktop mac is experiencing a ripple effect when i scroll up and down. Whats the remedy please?

I frirst noticed it when i was scrolling sideways within the dock and scrolling over web page text. There is no distortion when i scroll over the screensaver or my own documents.

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Smc reset.  Ane when that doesn't work, since your machine is less than a year old, take it to apple for repair under your applecare warrantee.
