Q: Invalid Security Code - frustration !

Hello to you all Apple/Mac lovers ,

I did see that someone had already posted about this earlier, only the topic was marked as solved so I'm making a new one.

Here's a little heads up for anyone who doesn't about this : when trying to add a credit card to the payment info on my iTunes store account, it says that I have to enter a valid security code - but the code I entered is already fully valid ! However many times I try I can't get it to work. Any clues, ideas, help ? Thanks a lot !

I had the same problem but the problem was that it wasn't the security code but that I had hwy shorted and my bank has it listed highway. I went in and changed the address to exactly what my bank had and now it works just fine. Verify your information with what your bank and/or credit card has.

I got my Visa Debit card to work by:

    1) logging into account.

    2) View purchase history - see all

    3) Since I owed money, there was a link which stated in red letters "Update payment method"

    4) Updated new card into and it worked.

This is one way Apple says something is wrong with you CC account.  Address is wrong, name is wrong, balance is maxed out, etc.  Unfortunately you have to decipher what is actually wrong.  Mostly it comes down to the balance is maxed out.  Especially if it works one day and not the other.

Just called the 800 number above and spoke to an absolute MORON who advised me that neither he or any person at Apple could help me with this problem. He said the only way I could resolve this was to go to the iTunes support website. When I told him that I've already gone through that support website and asked what I should do if that did not resolve my issue, he said I just needed to wait for the website to come up with a solution.

Is this seriously the kind of support Apple provides? I've been a loyal Apple customer since 2004 and this is the kind of service we get.

We have certainly reached a new era when a company makes it as difficult as possible for you to give them your money.

    SHAME ON YOU APPLE!

    Hey guys,

For the first time I'm using iphone, and I came across the same problem with the debit card you guys are having too.

I've noticed there are some posts since year 2010 on this topic, lol, that got me thinking why there are so many people disliking Apple....For 2 freakin years they couldn't fix this little problem with the security code, what kind of people are working in this organisation? It's like creating a fantastic car with fancy engine and stuff, but not adding  wheels to it

This is really a very serious problem for me as I have bought lots of apps and now not being able  to update them because of the invalid security code error. I entered the CC number and the correct code but to no avail. It is really sad that a problem like this is not  being addressed by Apple. Consider this, there has been 206525 Views and 190 Replies in this discussion thread and the original post was on June 2009. I know that there are millions Apps Store users that might not have this problem but I share the frustration that these "minority" is experiencing right now. My faith in Apple is beginning to take a dive.

For Venezuelan users: if you take the time to read the legal agreement you will see you have to have a dollars aproved credit card, so... go to your bank, ask for your Cadivi's authorization and you are done, Apple ID will work.

Ok my solution to this problem was to take out the space between my house number and the street name And put it in all caps like this.  (111BLAH ST)

Had this problem for a week, then fixed it. Go to apple.com, sign in, go to your account billing settings and the security code won't be there...type it in. Go to your iTunes on your phone and type in your security code. Worked for me!
