Q: Faulty 45W Magsafe Adapter for Macbook Air 2011

Hello,

I've recently had to change my adapter due to the the fact that the cable had "prematurley" worn out after only 18 months in use? I followed all the instructions as stated by Apple when winding the cable around the adapter.  See pictures below:

I went to the Apple store and they said that it was no longer under warrenty. I had to purcahse a new adapter....

This does not seem normal to me, there is a quality issue here.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Well, it was 6 months out of warranty.  They had no obligation to replace it for free.  They did have a recall for adapters in the US, but the premature strain relief was not in the same spot. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4127
