No you don't. Be happy with the first gen. I loved mine, too bad I traded with daughter to newer 3rd gen. I loved this even better, This new one is terrible.

Received the 6th generation, silver color, iPod nano 8GB yesterday via two-day Fedex shipping.  Just the ipod, nothing else, in some foam packaging.  Quick and easy process - if you want the new ipod you should send it in!

I returned mine in Jan 27th still no update from service pending. How long does this take.

For some reason, Apple is not updating the status in many orders. Many people received their iPod, being still in Service Pending. Call Apple Customer Relations 800-7672775 and ask about your order.

My experience is horrible. I requested an order on november, 18th. Never received the box. Call Apple, they opened a NEW order, and send an email giving instructions for sending my unit. They received the iPod on january, 31th. Since then, the status is Replacement Pending.

I will call Apple again. The distribution of the iPods is a shame. And, yes, I know is for free. That is not an excuse for a bad service.

My experience so far is good. I asked apple for replacement months ago and they shipped me the empty box. I literally left the box on a shelf for two months because I got busy, but when I checked last week they still accepted the (expired) shipping label.  Upon receipt of my nano they had a "replacement pending" notice up instantly and have now shipped my replacement

I will try to give my honest impression of the new product once I have it. I neither loved nor hated my 1gb, 1st gen unit. It was in perfect condition and worked fine, my wife still used it for workouts and gardening ( I have a 2nd gen nano and new shuffle I use).

Checking the displayed serial number, it seems to be a new, not reconditioned, 6th gen iPod. It shows as covered by full warranty and eligible for AppleCare. That, if correct, would be very generous of apple and I'll appreciate it.

    Wilson.

Many of the users are receiving a letter with the iPod. In that letter you can read that the warranty is only for 90 days, starting the day when you receive the replacement. No matter what you read in the website. I don't remember where, but somebody writes that the iPod was received with the letter (90 days), checking in the internet was another info (1 year). The product failed after two weeks. He call Apple and they said that the iPod was out of warranty... It's a mess!!!

It seems that the letter have the right information. Since it's a replacement, the iPod is coming with a limited warranty. And many people (as you can read in this post) wrote that the iPod is a refurbished one.

Hope you receive a new one...

I found out about the recall on March 23rd, and processed it. I got my envelope on the 28th. I sent it out on the 30th. 9Friday) It was logged as recieved and disagnosed on the 3rd of April (yesterday) and Replacement Shipped tonight (the 4th) I expect I'll have it by either Friday or Monday.

    That's another point.

I was notified about the recall on November, 17th. Opened the request for the replacement on November, 18th. Never received the box. On December I called Apple. After a very long talking, they promised to send the box (or whatever they were sending in that moment). On January I received an email. Apple opened a new (yes, a new) order and I have to take my iPod for an UPS store and send it to them. Never received anything at home...

They received the iPod on January, 30th and change the status to "Replacement Pendind". Since then, I still waiting for the replacement.

So, as you can see, Apple is not doing a good job. Yes, I know that is for free, but being waiting for almost twenty weeks since the first order, is a shame...

I filled out my replacement form and 2 days later my return box came via FedEx, took 2 days to ship, then 2 days to ship me my replacement 8gb 6th gen. So 6 total days and I had my brand new FREE ipod nano. I'd say apple is doing an AMAZING job

That's an exception. Please read the forum, and you will see what I mean. Some people received their iPod very fast. Few people, as you can read here. So, enjoy your iPod! Someday all of us will do.

Hello guys, I found a local Apple exchange point for Czech republic (ceskyservis.cz) and even though they said it will take up to six weeks, I had the exchanged iPod in two days;-) Lucky me I guess;-) Good luck to others.

Just found out about the recall, less than 2 weeks ago (no email). Dug through a lot of boxes to find my (has not been used in years) ipod nano (first gen). I contacted Apple on Thursday, received box on Monday, shipped the 1st gen nano back to Apple same day, Apple received it on Wednesday and shipped the new one to me on Friday. I received the new one today (Tuesday April 10 - that's with 2 holidays (good Friday and Easter Monday) in Canada. I got the silver 6th generation. I didn't send any cable or ear buds so should not expect those. I'm VERY impressed with Apple and VERY happy with my 8gb 6th generation iPod nano (versus 1gb 1st gen)- the only thing that would have made it better is a funky color but I guess silver is the most generic for male or female. Thanks Apple, you rock!!

I know it says not to put it into the fed ex drop box but the closest fed ex store from me is far

So I want to know if anyone has sent it back in the drop box and did you experience any problems?
