Q: NO SOUND WITH SPDIF INPUT

I HAVE NO SOUND AFTER CONNECTING SPDIF INPUT, I SEE THE SOUND IS COMING IN (INDICATOR IN SOUND) BUT NO CONNECTION TO SPEAKERS.

STRANGE THING IS I ASK APPLE FOR SUPPORT FOR AN IMAC BUT THEY GIVE AN ANSWER FOR WINDOWS VISTA ???

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Note that the TS you found is for Bootcamp which allows Apples to run Microsoft Operating systems. That answer does not apply to a Mac running MacOSX.

    Ok!

    But the question stays:

I let have remotely tested the Imac by a renown sound seller. Sound via spdif does not come out of the external speakers via IMac Sound. Strangely it comes in GarageBand perfectly. The seller has no answer to the question, they think it is a software fault of this iMac version. In their somewhat older IMac's it works perfectly.

In short: spdif sound via Sound : No sound from external speakers, but signal comes in visually

spdif sound via GarageBand is working (sound from speakers and recording)
