I tried to recharge my iPhone using a Varta battery backup unit. It was only connected for a couple of minutes, during which time the ph clicked in and out of charging, then the ph crashed. I've followed all the suggested steps for a frozen phone but nothing happens. If I connect the ph to its proper charger, it quickly gets very hot. Is my lovely phone dead?

Does the phone show just a white screen or no screen at all?

If the iPhone is displaying a white screens try holding down the lock button for 10 seconds then the home button for 5 seconds then relese all buttons and this should hard restart the iPhone.

Thanks Bradley but I've tried all the things suggested. All I get is a blank black screen. I have just rung Apple Support and it has been agreed that my phone is dead and gone. And all because I connected it to a $50 Varta battery charger backup that came with (among many others) an Apple products connector. Guess we have to be ultra careful about what we ask an Apple product to be friends with!
