I own a Garmin Road Tech Zumo GPS for my motorcycle. I have tied to convert my Libray on Itunes to MP3 files as suggested so I can play music through my GPS. When I follow the instructions from Itunes as well as other sources I am unsuccesful. What I end up with is MPEG-4 audio file (m4a). I download the music to a SanDisk 8 GB which plays through Itunes but when I install the Disk into the GPS it says no "No MP3 files found".

I'm sure I am doing something wrong but I can't figure it out. Any help out there from an old guy with ZERO tech skills.

You've gone into the General tab in Edit > Preferences, clicked on the Import Settings and changed the 'Import Using' to MP3 ? If you want to then create MP3 versions of your existing songs you should be able to highlight them in your iTunes library and select Advanced > Create MP3 version

I cleared my SanDisk and picked one song and followed the instructions from your link. It still will not play on the GPS and still shows it as a Mpeg-4 audio file. I want to pull my hair out over this.

You are copying the newly MP3 version of the song to card, and not the original music file ? The 'create mp3 version' creates a second separate version of the song, the original version will remain in your library

I now have a mp3 version but my GPS will not play it. Maybe I need to contact Garmin and ask for help. There is a possibilty I had two issues. At least one of them seems to be solved. Thank you

I tried what you said.  All looks good until I select a song, go to "advanced", and select "convert to mp3".  Get a window that says: "None of the selected files were converted because they could not be found."  Please help.  (I got a Sandisk mp3 player for husband for Father's Day and he still can't use it.)  Also, keep in mind that I'm a tech idiot.

    Thank you.  Persis

    Kin Penguin:

I use iTunes 11 and did the following to create a ringtone.  Pref>Import Settings>AAC Version.  Highlighted the song>right click for Get Info>set start and stop time and Ok.  Then right select on the highlighted song>Create AAC Version and get this: None of the selected files were converted because they could not be found. What am I doing wrong?

Are the songs that you are trying to create ringtone versions of on your computer e.g. if you try to play the original version in iTunes then does it play ?

    King:

The album is on my iMac and was purchased on my iMac a week ago.  I noticed yesterday that my iTunes preferences were showing MP3.  I immediately switched from MP3 to AAC.  Then I changed the entire downloaded album to AAC version which worked.  Get Info shows now as AAC.  And yes each song does play.
