Hello.

Well, as title says, no matter what i tried, Messages Beta keeps disconnecting my Yahoo ID. Any ideas? The Yahoo ID is the only one I got, except the Apple ID of course, so I cant really test if others have same problem(google talk for example). If when I get disconnected connect back with another app, Trillian for example, I stay online, it does not disconnect at all.

Thanks.

    Hi,

How many places have you got the Yahoo account logged in?

I find if I login via iChat and then launch the Yahoo for Mac beta 3 that logs iChat out of Yahoo.

I have not found a way in these two apps to allow Multiple Logins.

(i.e Logging in in a web Browser also causes either app to drop the Login)

    Hi,

In Trillian does it tell your in the account settings which ports it is logging in to the server with ?

iChat 6 and Messages uses  Port 443

The Yahoo app tends to use port 5050 as does Trillian (on a Mac)

In which case it may be the server name that each app is using.

    HI,

In iChat 6.0.x you could access the  Server Settings for the Yahoo Names you entered.

However this seems to have disappeared in Messages beta.

It also is not held in the com.apple.ichat.Yahoo.plist

(this makes it a bit of  mystery as to where the information is held as it is not in the IMAgent.plist or the ichat.plist itself)

    HI,

I saw that the info was blank in the .plist (Suggesting it is kept somewhere else)

My thought would be the Plug-in used for the Yahoo stuff but I could not locate that either.

I had also noticed only yesterday that Messages did not appear in the Firewall Allow List (Despite the fact iChat used to be).

I was wondering if this was the cause of the Messages Jabber File Transfer issues.

    Hi,

If you highlight the iChat 4 app (if you still have it on a computer somewhere) and Right Click it and select Show Package Contents you can get to see the bits that make iChat work.

In this version the contact to the servers is made via NIBs and there are very few Plug-ins listed (mainly to do with the IM style.

By the time your get to iChat 5 in Snow Leopard the plug-ins are more prevalent.

iChat 6 did not keep the Yahoo Plug-in in iChat.app/Contents/Plug-ins

    It was in Hard Drive/Library/iChat/Plug-ins

Now Messages keeps 4 plug-ins in Hard Drive/Library/Messages

    Hi,

Having a much more stable Internet connection is certainly going to help.
