Why do all iWork programs beep when I type?  The software was purchased from the APP Store.  It is making the products unusable! I cannot find a solution anywhere online.

iWork, Mac OS X (10.7.3), iWork programs beep

It is because you have opened a Page layout document uses text boxes for text. Open instead a Word processing document and you can write as you expect to. If you look in the New Template Choosers sidebar you'll see there are two types of documents.

Also download the Pages User Guide from your Pages Help menu. Chapter 1 does explain about the two types of documents.

Nope that is not it. Any document that I open in any iWork App.  Even old docs created in word or power point, which I might go back to.

Have you restarted the computer lately? Or just Pages? Does Pages work in another user account? You can create one n the System Preferences.

Are you saying that using Pages in a new user account doesn't work? IT would help if you were more specific in your answer to what you have done. by experience when people say "Nothing suggested works" they still haven't tried all.

Did you do something to the computer before the problem arisen?

OK, I do not want another account but I just tried setting up another account and went through the process of using with my serial number their to set it up.  It is not beeping in that account...progress!! But I do not want to move 100s of applications and 10,000s of files?  Is there a solution in my existing account?  What do you think is the cause?  Thanks BTW

Why did you need a serial number? Which Pages version do you have?

You don't need to move anything. Delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist from Users/your name / Library/Preferences. Restart the computer, not needed but does help.

Because I bought iWork family pack 09 on disc.  It asked for it.  I have version 4.1 (923)

    I only have "om.apple.iWork09.plist"

You are in the wrong Library folder. I don't have Lion but have read that if you use the Go menu in Finder and press the Alt/Option key when opening the menu you should get the right. (I don't understand why apple think it should be hidden)

iWork requires a registration/serial number only to activate the downloaded trial version. The retail box version, with either the single user or the family licence, does not require a serial number, nor is one supplied with that version.

If any of the iWork applications are asking for a serial number, it is because you have, at some time, downloaded the thirty day trial version, and have not deleted it and any supporting files created by the applications before installing the retail box version.

The safest and most certtain way to remove the trial version is to use the AppleScript available in the public area of Yvan Koenig's Box account. Go to For_iWork'09 > Other_iWork'09 items > uninstall_iWork'09.zip

I thought I had a disc but I do have an email receipt for a retial serial number.  Assuming I did and I use your suggestion to uninstall everything, then what?

The key here is to make sure you have the means to reinstall after deleting what's on your machine now.

If you DO have a disk, then proceed with the uninstall, then reinstall from the disk, then use Software update to bring iWork up to the most current version for your OS.

If you purchased from the Mac app store, the individual applications should be listed in your purchases. If so, go ahead with the uninstall, then reinstall the apps you've purchased by downloading them again from the app store. App store purchases may be installed on any compatible device assigned to the same Apple ID. There is no serial number involved.

You will have a disk only if you purchased the retail box version (with either the single or family licence). This does not require a serial number.

    Regards,

    Barry

I did  buy via digital download but not through the Mac app store.  My invoice is from Feb 2011 (pre lion)and they gave me a serial number.  I have no disk.  If I download from the Mac app store now will it remember that purchase? Thanks
