Since rebuilding my mail inbox, I have hundreds of 'unread' messages. How can I view unread messags all together so I can go through them and check them so I can delete or keep them?

Click on the Indbox folder. Then in the column to the right, press Command + 'A' key.

This will select EVERYTHING in your inboxes. Then right-click and Mark --> Read

You might want to create a new "smart mailbox"  to view unread messages.  Mail > Mailbox > new smart mailbox..

LOL @ captfred. All the wonderful features of Smart Mailboxes, and yet I still haven't bothered to find any use for them for myself.

One of my most frequently used smart mailboxes is Apple Discussions..   Just roll through all that email and handle or delete!!
