Your comment is off base. The bank is a secure site and Medevante is a MAJOR player in handling bill pay for banks. Neither are "backwoods" operations.
Ever since Apple changed the look and behavior of the cookie management, there have been all kinds of problems (check the discussions board). The preferences should only deal with cookies and ads, not what is happening in this case.

I was wondering if you are still having problems with this?
Do the results change if you turn off pop-up control (temporarily)?
I know that some sites use pop-ups for necessary steps.
Just a thought.

I had the same problem, and thanks to your post, I was able to get around it. Many thanks.
Prior to this I had tried several other things, including disabling Java, using OpenDNS, disabling DNS.
Nothing else had done the trick.

For anyone out there who is still experiencing this problem, my bank says it has now been fixed in Safari 5.1.7. http://blog.centralnational.com/index.php/2012/03/safari-users-in-online-banking
