Q: pairing the apple tv remote with only apple tv

is it possible to pair the apple tv remote with only apple tv and not affect the other macs in the room?

whenever i make a change on the remote the other macs pick up the signal and are affected, whether its volume, rewind or any fuction. its very annoying.

thanks

The pairing does not stop a remote controlling something else - it only makes the paired device ignore other remotes - something the paired device or computer does.  The rmote is a cheap passive thing that has no idea if anything is 'paired' to it.

You either need to pair macs/other devices with their own remotes or for your macs turn off the IR sensor in System Preferences>Security

the ir sensor solution is a great one, thanks! its too bad the removes couldn't be paired specifically for each device.

    thanks again for the idea.
