So my first book is in the iBookstore. It's in the Travel & Adventure category and while it does have a lot of pictures, it also has a lot of words, all of them in English.

Today it occurred to me to add some other countries (was USA only) and so I put it in the UK, Australia, Canada, and Ireland because they all mostly speak English. But what about all the other stores? I am uncertain if I should put it there.

I know lots of people in Germany and Slovakia and etc speak English, but am I asking for trouble putting an English language book in their stores as well? I'm curious what other authors have done and if they've received any unintelligible feedback for their troubles.

What kind of "trouble" are you thinking this could cause?  I can't imagine what you have to lose by trying to sell in all stores.

Using iTunes on your computer, note the small flag icon bottom left - tap it and you can then choose other stores by country you can browse. Check the books sections in those stores and see if you think what you want to do would be a problem based on what others seem to have done.

Maybe not trouble so much as do they prefer their bookstore not be "junked up" by a lot of English language description pages? Just trying to be a good netizen.

I've seen tons of complaints by people who can't get the English language books they want in their local non-English store, so I doubt this would be a problem.

This is a great point you bring up and something I might not have considered beyond US / UK / Canada / AUS-NZ. I would add the following additional countries:

    The Netherlands

    South Africa

I don't think you would cause trouble by doing that, especially if your book offers something that isn't available in the corresponding native language. On the other hand, if you are selling "20 quick sandwich recipes", and the Germans already have "20 schnelle Brötchen Rezepte", your sales there will probably be rather low. (I still don't think you would upset anyone though.)

Is there a way, when looking at the iBookstore, to filter the books that are shown by language?
