I have an iPhone 3gs, and I downloaded ios 5.1 through iTunes, but now its telling me to activate my iPhone with a sim card, and I never had one.. Help!
After updating the firmware, all iPhones require a SIM card (doesn't need to be active) for activation. No way around this.
So I have to keep a sim card in there? Service is expensive, i dont really need it, so can i just put a sim cad in , then take it out, just for it to be activated?
just put it in to activate and then remove as already provided by gdgmacguy
You sure its going to work by just putting it in and taking it out? How much will a sim card cost? Can i use somebody elses sim card, or will it mess up their data?
ANY sim card will do and it will not do any harm
Read the Apple document !!
I used an old sim card to try to activate my iphone 3gs, it didnt work, and it gave me this response:
We're sorry, the iPhone you connected may be damaged and cannot be activated for service. We reccomend you visit your nearest apple Store for more information.
Sounds like you need to visit your nearest Apple store. There's nothing else we users here can do for you.
I tried calling Apple. They should have better customer service.
Anyways i found out hwat to do. You are supposed to insert a Phonebook sim card and itll activate
Thanks to everybody who helped!
