I think my computer has been infected by Something Bad.  Lots of unusual behavior.

1) For about a week or more there has been odd behavior with Safari & Google.  A first click on a (searched for) link goes to a different (incorrect) page.  A second try results to going to the correct page.  There are some odd hover issues too - no click, but a web page is opened.  Weird and scary, but at first I thought it was a problem with the Safari update & Google.  That seems wrong now.

2) This error message has come up frequently in the last 3 days or so:  "Safari quit unexpectedly while using the .CDCheckv.so plug-in.  Click Reopen to open the application again.  Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."  I made the mistake of thinking that this was a corrupted Safari problem or something - a quick search seemd to suggest that .CDCheckv.so was legit.

I  installed the Java update yesterday (after the error messages showed up).  Reinstalled Safari.

3) Today I noticed this scary thing in the Finder view menu:  Usual items are replaced by things like "FV12" "FV5" "FV14" "FV1" "FV35".  Main Finder menu includes "A3" and "A3.1".  File menu has "LB1" as the last item.

I have been unable to find help on the support site & I'm concerned about installing some random unknown script.  Also, I'm not a programmer or engineer or anything like that, and so I don't really know how to use these things anyway.  Needless to say, I'm very worried about critical files.  They have been backed up, but I have to guess that the virus/malware may have been transferred as well.

At this point, I really need some solid advice!  Is there a good and cheap software that will remove this?  Thank you for any help that you can provide.
