Q: Question...

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.4.11.  I have not been able to connect it to my Iphone, and am worried about the amount of memory that is on it and if it will crash if I try to update my software in order to transfer to ICloud.  What do I do?

Thank you for helping me!  I have been stuck with this problem for about 6 months.  I can get my yahoo mail on my phone, but not my mac.com emails.  Also, my mac.com account is up and I have to transfer to ICloud.  I need to update all of my software and am concerned about how to do this since my computer is so old.

    Thank you again!!!

As it is now, you don't have enough RAM to install LIon/10.7 which is needed for full iCloud support, but let's set up Mail on your Mac to sunc with the iPhone's email, it can be done.

Do not delete the old account yet. Sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't yet.

I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.

You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.

iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...

On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.

    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:

    Server name: imap.mail.me.com

    SSL Required: Yes

    Port: 993

Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)

    Password: Your iCloud password

    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:

    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com

    SSL Required: Yes

    Port: 587

    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes

Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)

    Password: Your iCloud password

Can I keep my mac.com account and just transfer it to ICloud once I figure out my Iphone?  This has been my email account for a very long time and I would like to keep it.

    Thank you!

I really appreciate your time and help.  I was unable to do it correctly and am very frustrated.  Do I need to go into a mac store to get this done properly?  Do they charge to do this?

I don't know if they'll charge or not, or even if they have anybody that wouldn't jump back 10 feet on hearing 10.4.x!

    I'd call & see.

Or, where/how is it failing to work?

What if I have no sound on my computer or a left or right mouse button.  There is just one big button and I don't know how to perform a "left click".  UG!

If it's a one button Mouse then click = left click, Control key + click = right click.
