Apr 11, 2012 3:17 PM in response to James Cudeby Vedic Vision,Thank you for your response. Final Cut Pro X worked fine before I upgraded to the latest version. I tried trashing the preferences but with no success. After a few clicks on any menu item the app just freezes and I haft to force quit.

Apr 12, 2012 8:23 AM in response to leefromnew havenby Vedic Vision,If I trash the app and re-download it, will I loose all my keywords to all the files that I have been importaning?
-
Apr 12, 2012 8:27 AM in response to Vedic Visionby Tom Wolsky,★HelpfulKeywording and other netadata are in the events themselves, not in the application.

Apr 12, 2012 10:43 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby leefromnew haven,Like Tom says.
I move Projects and Events between copies of FCP X all the time (same version) and there's no issue with Metadata. Updating should be just like going to a copy of FCP X on another machine.
Of course I'd back up your Events/Project folders before updating. The update shouldn't touch them, but hey.

Apr 12, 2012 1:18 PM in response to Vedic Visionby leefromnew haven,HI
Where did this video come from? How did it get imported into FCPX? (Import / or Import from Camera)
What format is it? Frame size, frame rate, CODEC,
Is FCP X's Background processing running?
This is a good one .... is your Spotlight Indexing? Even if it's an external drive, this can happen and kill disk performance. If it's an external drive, what is it's format ( FAT 32, Mac OS Extended?).
Best I can do...

Apr 12, 2012 1:19 PM in response to Vedic Visionby innocentius,Are you still in Lion 10.7.1 ?. Clean your mac with utilities like Onyx, delete preferences, repair permission, check what your applications are loaded at start up. Check activity monitor.

Apr 12, 2012 1:55 PM in response to innocentiusby BROOKLYNTREEZ,did you try trashig preferences with 'Preference Manager'. I know it sounds cliche, but it worked for me.

Apr 12, 2012 2:05 PM in response to Vedic Visionby carlp778,I'm having real problems with the new updated version of fcpx as well. It keeps crashing. I only got it working by deleting the last project I was working on.

Apr 12, 2012 2:57 PM in response to leefromnew havenby Vedic Vision,Video came from my hard drive. I imported from the hard drive not from a camera. I do not understand Spotlight Indexing question. I am starting to think it might have something to do with it communicating with my external drive. I can access all my files through the finder with no problems.
I have not added any video sense I upgraded to the new version. I am having this problem with projects I was working on before the upgrade.

Apr 12, 2012 3:06 PM in response to Vedic Visionby carlp778,All my video is stored on an external hard drive as well but not sure why that would be an issue.

Apr 13, 2012 7:39 AM in response to carlp778by Vedic Vision,This problem is still unresolved. When I play video from my internal drive every thing seems to be fine. When I play video from my external drive it freezes up.
I never had this problem before I upgraded FCP X
