Thanks. I hope that it will work. Do you know if it will handle all types of files?

Works with any and all files.

The only caveat that I have seen is that you must have the free HD space on each of your computers as you actually keep hard copies on all devices so if you have 1TB of dropbox and only 500GB on your laptop you will not be able to put 600gb on your dropbox without getting it angry.

Next issue is Close quit your work when you leave a computer so it syncs and will be the most updated version on your computer

if you are wokring on a doucment when you have no internet connection you MUST establish one on that computer before it will updat on your other computers.

    pretty staightforward.

    Hi there

For a company with much vaunted ease-of-use, this seems really clunky.

I've got an iPad 2 with some iWork docs. They are in the cloud. I'm trying to access them from my mac.

So I use my MBP 13" Lion 10.7.3 Mac using Safari to visit icloud.com.

I click on the document and click "Download" and choose "Keynote 09".

Nothing happens. So it's basically not working is it?

I've tried downloading it as a PowerPoint or PDF and same thing. It's not working.

Or is the problem on the human side of the keyboard? ;-/

    Sound like.

Wireless Mobile Users and Wireless Service Data is at own risk.

Apple have right not want iOS Keynote to be sync to MAC OS X Keynote.

    That is true?

Should accept and stop begin complain over sync-less between OS X and iOS to iWork softwares (apps).

    I hope that help lots.

IOS devices update Iwork documents to the cloud automatically if you have the cloud turned on.  Iwork Docs on your mac must be dragged on to the icloud.com/iwork webpage.  Once this is done you will be able to view and modify these documents that were made on a Mac.

Failing uoloads to icloud. Trying for two days. Used both Firefox and Safari. Presentations run from 25 to 250 MB. Any of them will load for a few minutes then show me a upload of presentation fail window.  Appears to be generated by Keynote? Just ran a speed test with my SP all is up to speed. No way to tell what is wrong. Just stuck with a lecture lumming in the near future.Bill

I had a heck of a time finding the way to do this. Apple does not make it apparent how to download a file from icloud or iwork into your iPad. It drove me nuts. However, I did look on the support page, and it has this explanation:

"When you sign in to iWork.com in Safari on your iPad, iWork.com opens to your Shared Documents view, displaying a scrollable list of all the documents you posted to iWork.com.

In Shared Documents view, scroll to locate the document you want to download, and then tap Download in the document’s tile.

A preview of the document opens in Safari.

Tap “Open in,” and then tap the name of an application in the list that appears.

The document may take a moment to download, and then it opens in the application you selected.

To view or edit a document in Keynote, Pages, or Numbers, you must have the application installed on your iPad."

This actually does work fine, but it's hard to find the way to do it. What baffles me is that in Keynote for iPad, it shows instantly how to download from iTunes or iDisk or a Webdav server, but not how to download from iCloud/iWork. Since this is Apple's main cloud product, I find it almost unbelievable that this is not a BIG FAT BUTTON you can't miss. Man, wake up Apple. Really!

Hey, here's another tip for using iCloud when you are on the road, using only your iPad to work. Here's the problem: You have a file on your computer at home. You need to work on it on your iPad. Here's what to do:

    1. Get LogMeIn app for iPad. This will allow you to log in to your computer back home, and operate it remotely. Just follow the instructions to set up. It will show you how to click the settings on your Mac for remote access.

    2. LogMeIn won't work if your computer is off, and a change to Lion made a lot of the Wake On Lan programs not work anymore. There is a workaround, but it's ****. Don't bother. Leave your computer on, by putting the power settings to Never Sleep. Do have the setting to have your Screen go to sleep.

    3. When you need something on the road, log into your computer. Then open Safari and go to iCloud. Upload the file using iWork.com.

    4. Once that's done, go to iWork.com using Safari on your iPad. Follow these instructions:

When you sign in to iWork.com in Safari on your iPad, iWork.com opens to your Shared Documents view, displaying a scrollable list of all the documents you posted to iWork.com.

In Shared Documents view, scroll to locate the document you want to download, and then tap Download in the document’s tile.

A preview of the document opens in Safari.

Tap “Open in,” and then tap the name of an application in the list that appears.

The document may take a moment to download, and then it opens in the application you selected.

To view or edit a document in Keynote, Pages, or Numbers, you must have the application installed on your iPad.

    Hope that helps.

Problem is not on your side of the keyboard. Apple just makes this hard to find. Once you know how, it does work well, but it took me an hour to figure it out ... and I'm an iPhone software designer for God's sake! This should be easy enough for a ten year old to manage. Anyhow, here's how to do it, straight from the Apple Support page:

When you sign in to iWork.com in Safari on your iPad, iWork.com opens to your Shared Documents view, displaying a scrollable list of all the documents you posted to iWork.com.

In Shared Documents view, scroll to locate the document you want to download, and then tap Download in the document’s tile.

A preview of the document opens in Safari.

Tap “Open in,” and then tap the name of an application in the list that appears.

The document may take a moment to download, and then it opens in the application you selected.

To view or edit a document in Keynote, Pages, or Numbers, you must have the application installed on your iPad.

Once you have icloud turned on and set up on both your mac and ipad, go to icloud.com and sign in (you will need to have set it up with apple id, etc).  Once signed in, I just got to iWork and click on the gear in upper right corner. Then it gives you the option of to add keynote presentations to your icloud.  Once it is done with that, the presentation appears on your ipad.

Trying to understand why there isn't a button to save to or open from iCloud in the lastest edition of Keynote for the iPad?

    exactly what baffles too

the UI integration with iCloud is just horrible, even the newly updated desktop version

the only way to save to icloud is when you save the document the "first time" after editing,

if you choose to save in the local storage, then you won't get another chance to save it to icloud, wth?

there's no direct button to control the icloud, and the share button still shows the dead iwork.com options.

what is wrong with you, apple?

agreed. the most powerful company in the world can't get its lines to stop interfering with one another. how embarassing! they are just adding complexity instead of simplicity and continuing to charge a premium.

I agree. There really needs to be a clearly visible distinction on whether a currently open file resides in iCloud or locally. And there needs to be a clear mechanism for saving that file as work progresses for iCloud, local, or keeping both sync'd. I realize this dance can get a bit complicated from a logistical standpoint, but Apple is brilliant at making complex things simple for the user to understand and use.
