Apr 14, 2012 9:40 PM in response to karina0304by karina0304,I thought maybe if I deleted the guest user account it might also delete all the transfered files and then I could try running migration assistant again but when I tried this the delete symbol remains grey so I can't delete it even though I'm logged in as admin and have opened the lock symbol! Phone support call centre is closed today being Sunday so no help there either.. Can anyone help me?!

Apr 14, 2012 10:07 PM in response to karina0304by John Galt,★HelpfulCongratulations!
... Using migration assistant I've transfered aprox 100GB of files from my PC which seemed to take about 2seconds, but have no idea where they are or how to access them.
It sounds as though Migration Assistant did not do a thing. With Migration Assistant, 100 GB will take time, no matter how the two computers communicate it will be at least an hour. Probably more. I recommend you connect them both to a wired network and make sure the PC is really using it. Wireless will take a lot longer.
I suggest you read the following step by step. On your Windows PC, you will need to download Migration Assistant. That link and everything else you need to know is in this document: OS X Lion: About Windows Migration Assistant. Follow its instructions to the letter.
The "guest" user is a feature of OS X and will not contain your files. Don't concern yourself with it.

Apr 14, 2012 10:32 PM in response to John Galtby karina0304,Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I'm still a bit confused.. I read the link you posted and the process is exactly the same as what I did. I have the PC & the Mac side by side connected to a wired network, I followed the steps set out in the article right through to choosing items to migrate then hit continue. It immediately told me files were migrated. Is there any way I can check to see if they are? ie checking used disk space etc or should I just run MA again?

Apr 14, 2012 10:59 PM in response to karina0304by John Galt,★HelpfulSorry, if you followed the instructions I have no idea what went wrong, but there is no way it would have copied anything near 100 GB of data that fast. Even with gigabit Ethernet transferring data at its theoretical maximum speed you would need at least thirty minutes, not counting the overhead Migration Assistant requires. A few hours is more like it.
Everything in the "about" document looks exactly like what I've been used to seeing. The only thing I can suggest is to make sure you selected the correct account on the PC, and that the appropriate boxes are checked as in this picture:
If the "selected items" total is on the order of 100 GB it will take a good long time.
