I have a Macbook Air which arrived with Lion 10.7.3.

I would really like to replace that OS with Snow Leopard to keep it working like my other machines - and at the same time fix an annoying problem with my Bluetooth headset. I would like to know:

Is this covered by the Lion user agreement?

Is there a reasonably simple way to perform this downgrade?

Can I use the DVD from my iMac (sharing the drive with the Macbook) to do this?

Cheers,

JQ

No, you can only run the OS your Mac shipped with or greater.

No.  You can not, and should not do that.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2186

Lion is a disaster. I just upgraded and there are tons of PowerPC software I MUST RUN TO DO MY WORK. Apple has seriously screwed up by abandoning Rosetta. Emulation is easy. They have the computing power. They have the money to spend on maintaining compatibility (BILLIONS in the bank) and their screwing over users by destroying access to old vital software. I'm wiping my drive and going back to my clone of Snow Leopard with Rosetta. Lion is a major waste of time and money.

What this also means is I won't be bothering to buy new Apple hardware. If it requires Lion and won't run the software I need to do my work then it's not worth having new Apple hardware even if it were free. Apple loses more sales. 27 sales in our case.

Reinstall Snow Leopard from your Time Machine back up.

I restored from backup. I use CarbonCopyCloner. I trust that more than Apple's TimeMachine which is another disaster area. Apple is trying to automate everything, forcing this on users. Fine for those who don't know what they want but they need to leave me and other users who want to control things the ability to do so.

    Just say no to Lion.

Yes, you can. Ignore the Apple fanboys who say you can't. Try reading through this thread.

But first, make a complete bootable clone of your hard drive as it is

Read his post Tom, he already did that.

So the problem is between you and Lion then pub. You asked, you were advised. You reverted. Your problem here is solved. Good luck with Snow Leopard as most Mac users march on towards  Mountain Lion with no problems.

    Good Luck

Tom the original poster is talking about a Mac Book AIR not a Macbook Pro. Two totally different beasts.

Since the Air models came with a Special version of Lion and I personally don't know of any that have been downgraded from the Pre-Installed version of Lion to SL I can't comment on whether it could be done or not.

But my GUT tells me it can't.

Now if we were talking MBP then yes it can.

No. I did not ask. I stated. Lion is a disaster and I downgraded. Try actually reading the messages.

Why are you replying to me? I was talking to Tom From London about the Original starter of this thread, jq1024.

You are not the original poster and Tom wasn't talking to and or replying to you either.

The OP marked his question as answered. You are just here to vent your personal dislike of Lion in someone else's thread. Do you really expect anyone to take your impolite rantings seriously? You are back to Snow Leopard so go back to the SL forums.

    Bye
