Q: iPhone 4s unable to connect to home Wi-Fi, iPhone 4s unable to connect to home Wi-Fi, iPhone 4s unable to connect to home Wi-Fi, iPhone 4s unable to connect to home Wi-Fi

Hi,

I am able to connect my laptop to my home wi-fi network except for my iphone 4s. My iphone can detect it and when i try to join a little circle spins beside the network to indicate something is happening. But still unable to connect and see the status bar (signal) on my iphone.

Is anyone facing the same problem, pls assist. (NOTE: iphone was able to connect to my home network until yesterday, but all of sudden I am facing this problem. I have tried to refresh my router, but no gain)

iPhone 4S, iOS 5

    I'm having the same problem

Just did the reset and it still won't connect. I'm getting the 'unable to connect to this network' message. Prior to recent iPhone4 update I was always able to connect. Apple problem?

Try turning off the router (usually by unplugging it), wait 10 seconds, then power it up again. This works sometimes.

Did you ever find a fix for this issue?

I'm having the same issue. My family has 2-4s iPhones, 3-3GS iPhones and 3 computers. All of them will connect to my home wifi no problem except the 4s I received 2 weeks ago. I went to the Apple store 3 times and they even gave me a brand new phone today and it still does not work. It will connect briefly and loses the connection as if it the passcode was never entered. I've tried to set it up 4 times. This is very frustrating. I have a older Netgear router but why do all my other phone work fine.

What pvonk said is not the same as a restart it is a hard reboot a restart keeps information about connected devices in memory to be used after the restart. A hard reboot like pvonk suggests will wipe information about conected devices from the router and force the router to renew all connections ( assign new ips etc.)

I had the exact issue as LotusRiver. Everything else was connecting to my wifi except my iphone 4s. There was a little loading circle next to "Choose a Network" and nothing came up. So I tried typing in my network name but received the "could not scan for wireless networks" message. I also tried the following which was suggested by other users in the forums:

    Restart modem

Restart iphone (when turning the phone back on hold the top button and home button at the same time)

    Reset Network Settings

Restore phone to its orginal settings using Itunes

None of these worked for me (hopefully they work for you) so I called my wireless carrier and they said it sounds like a hardware issue with the actual phone. They are sending me a replacement phone. When I get the phone I will repost on this forum stating if the new phone is successful in connecting to my wifi or not.

First back up everything then check all versions of software are upto date plug out the modem from the wall and leave for 30 seconds........... plug back in ......toggle the "airplane mode" switch...... then once you have switched back from airplane mode toggle the wifi switch in settings.........then turn on wifi again and let the phone search for your home network..........Failing this General>Reset>Reset Network Settings......Next option Hard Reset..Hold On/Off switch and Home Button together till Apple Logo appears ........Final option Restore in iTunes.......
