My son dropped his ipod touch 32g and cracked the screen. We bought the ipod last October. I totally understand that this is not covered under warranty and I will have to pay to get it fixed. So will Apple replace my entire device with the same model and 32g or do they actually only replace the screen and I still have the same device? Do I have to go into an Apple store to have this fixed or can I do it online and have it mailed to get it fixed? I purchased the ipod online via Apple. How much is this going to finally cost me? Thanks.

Do you even read before you ask??? Ther will be alot of persons making blogs that apple repaired or exchanged it while when other people ask apple if they can replace it. Confusing. So I bought a iPod Touch for my self and i didn't bought the warranty (Since it alrady had a 1 year) . I broked on my b-day (witch is very sad) and broked it when a brother bumped on me and the ipod touch fell out of my pocket and the screen got broken.I could still use it but it looks terrible and something might happen to me if someone sees it. I started to panic and looked every thing on the internet. So when I hear when they do replace it that give me a very good questions to ask.... If they replace it, will all my files be one the replaced unit????
FYI: I'm a little young to do it my self ( if I were older I would replaced my self (11 years old)) and if my dad sees it, my getting grounded pretty badly.........

You receive a referbished device. The files will only be there if you've backed up your iPod and restore from backup when setting up the new one

Actually it would be the data, the actual content should reside on your computer, which can be synced

The power/sleep button on my 4G Ipod Touch broke the other day. Its permanently pushed in. I didn't drop it, and I don't know how this happened. Would this qualify as being defective, or is this user damage?
I'm probably going to a local Apple Store soon, hoping they will give me a new one...

Yes that would qualify, make an appointment with the genius bar if you can or just drop in

What Apple store did you take it too?
As i've dropped mine and the screen has cracked. I've had the ipod since christmas 2011 so it's not even a year old. What did you say to the people in the store?

As has been stated the warranty does not cover user damage, some people are just lucky. You will just have to take a chance and see but there is no guarantee

Well I took it.... secretly. And i told them about what happened, but let's say they didn't because suposedly they think worng about a KID whose they think are imature to have one. They did not told me that but I felt like that.... so they said I might have the abilyty to do that but of course.... they didn't though they offerme a refurished for less money but i said no. but if you tell them that u are trying to be loyal to apple or to instyed by an android tablet or a blackberry tablet and be loyal to them. That's why im planing to get a blackberry tablet with the help of my older sis and to ditch apple and forget about them for the rest of my life . That would be a good trick. U should try it.

You would be in the same position should you break the screen on one of those devices, so not sure what your point is

I did this a while ago but i figure i should announce it anyways. So thank you stevejobsfan1234 (sorry if is said it wrong), I did request a time to go the the apple store a saturday ago, and i brought it in, and after the lady saw it, she immediately asked "did you jailbreak?" and as a stubborn child i said yes. she kind of felt sympathetic im guessing becasue she brought it to the back and did a full restore, from her database, and came out with my same ipod, with the new OS, and it was basically wiped. i say that was my one free pass though, so im not going to jailbreak anytime soon. Thank you all especially vazandrew and stevejobsfan1234. I guess i was a pretty lucky sucker yet once again. i was almost ecstatic when she brought it out though. as the ipod before if the battery died or it turned off, it wouldn't work, i was always only using it for a minute or two at a time. as i started with my ipod, i was really attatched to it. every minute of the day i would play it. now, since i am less so attatched, i am not using it as much. i am trying to use it more often though, becaause i barely even touch it. again, thank you guys for the help and the info. it really helped since i am a younger fellow and didn't know alot about it.

This is point. The iPod touch could be said that the depelevors (sorry for spelling) was in a hurry to release it so they get the most obvious materials you can to get a price so not costly. While let's say the blackberry tablets was taken a lot of time and was constructed very well, TFT screen in a LCD with thin glass covering it. F I would of let my psp fall from 5 feet it will still be usable, while with the iPod touch, the whole thing would shatter a break apart. Get my point??

I mean that the blackberry was constructed by a TFT screen not a thin layer of glass that the LCD screen.
