Apr 2, 2012 9:28 PM in response to cropkaby PAHU,You can print to the Canon from the Mac when it is connected to the Windows computer and shared. The key is to use the correct driver that supports this type of connection. The driver provided by Canon and available via Apple Software Update does not support this type of connection. Instead you need to install the Gutenprint driver suite on the Mac and use the MX300 Gutenprint driver to print to your MX310.
To add the shared Windows printer to the Mac, open Print & Scan and click the plus button. With the Add Printer view open select the Windows icon. This will present a window with three columns. The first is the workgroup column and you will probably see the word Workgroup. Select this and the next column will show the name of the Windows computer. Select this and you may get a prompt to authenticate. You need to enter the Windows user name and password into this popup, not your Mac details. With the user name and password correctly entered you will then see the shared printer name. Select this and then select the MX300 - Gutenprint driver in the Print Using menu and OK to finish.
Now the first time that you print to this shared printer you will get another prompt to authenticate. Enter the Windows credentials again and save them to the Mac keychain so that you don't have to enter the details the next time you print.

Apr 19, 2012 8:22 AM in response to cropkaby dizins,Hi
I have the same issue. Was wondering if you did get it set up the way you wanted it.
I have my Canon Printer connected to my PC with Vista with wireless router and MacBook Pro.
I want to share my printer with my Mac.
Haven't tried anything yet just wanted to check with you because we have the same setup issue.
Thanks

Apr 19, 2012 9:05 AM in response to cropkaby Kurt Lang,Mac and PC are on the same Network.
My I presume you then have a router? If so, there's no need to do any printer sharing at all.
All routers have at least a few LAN ports on them. Plug the Ethernet cable from the printer into the router and you will be able to access the printer from either the Mac or the Windows computer at any time without having to bother with printer sharing in either OS.

Apr 19, 2012 10:57 AM in response to Kurt Langby dizins,I loved your advise sounded great but my printer has a USB connection no a ethernet so I could not do this. Definitely would have solved it all. My router does have 2 extra ethernet spots but no USB ports.
Thanks
