Hi, no expert here, but which Mini, and does it have the silly integrated Intel Video?
Open Activity Monitor, Show:>All Processes, sort on CPU%, see if anything using too much CPU% when this happens, click on Memory tab, do you have many Pageouts?
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

It's a 2011 model without disc drive, with 8 gb memory, and the "silly" Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB. The CPU load lies between 12 and 14 %, and there is about 3 GB of free memory available at all time.
In the console, the message "buffer allocation size is zero" is quite frequently displayed, but that's about it.

OK, that error is a good clue & known to cause Audio problems.
Are these video clips Flash Based?
Last poster said disabling HW Acceleration cured something.
IOSurface is private CoreFoundation frameworks for managing pixel buffers, or in official words, "sharing graphics surfaces between applications.

Thank you again! Disabling hardware acceleration removed the error messages in the console, but audio is unfortunately still out of sync. The delay seems to be constant, and not varying, as described in the other thread.

I believe it was constant all the time - it was the users in the other thread that had varying audio delays.
It looks much like a TV-/sound system delay, where the signal simply takes longer to be processed by one of the components. It might be that the internal sound card uses longer or shorter time to process the signal than the video card, thus creating a delay. But then again - if that were the case, others should have the same problem as I. I still haven't found any solution.
