Ok, I've gone to Apple TV iTunes Store>Location and changed this to the UK (even though I'm in the UAE) and buttons now show - however when I now click Netflix it says Netflix is currently not supported in your location.
Apple this is a missell and you must remove Apple TV 2 with this description on the packaging from the shelves here unless it can be fixed. This is a disgrace/outrage!
Please note I bought this product from a legitimate fully authorized dealer!
Can someone please advise/help?

Services are not available in all countries and are subject to change.
That is a quote from the Apple TV web site.
If content you wish to view is not available in the UAE, I suggest you return the device for a credit. As I recall, Apple will accept returns within 14 days for no particular reason.

Thanks for the info Barry.
To add to this though, if a product does not work as it is described on the packaging then Apple should either change the packaging, change the product so it works or remove the product from sale.
Its still being missold. If I bought a DVD player took it home and then discovered it didn't play DVDs I'd be none too happy either.
Lets hope Apple and Netflix get their act together. Pronto.

If you would be so kind as to provide a link to where Apple is claiming that you can use these services in the UAE, please do so, I will bring it to the attention of the moderators.

When I or any other customer is prepared to part with my hard earned cash to pay a large profitable company for a product they are marketing, in the very least I should be able to trust them to deliver on their promise.
I bought the product in the UAE from an authorised dealer and on the box Apple claims I can "Play movies and TV shows from Netflix, live and archived games from MLB, NBA, and NHL, and videos from YouTube and Vimeo".
The physical sale of the product through an authorised dealer which contains this description IS the implied claim from Apple that it should work, weblink or otherwise.
This is wrong. And if you have a direct link to someone who counts at Apple please forward the disappointment onto them as I'm sure I am not the only person who would feel let down in this instance.
The Apple TV is not an expensive product - but it is money down the drain if it doesn't actually work!
Otherwise I'm normally a very satisfied Apple customer.

Unfortunately, it says nothing like that on any of the boxes that my Apple TV's came. I had rather thought that with the Apple TV being a universal device, that the boxes everywhere would be the same.
You seem to be saying that the box that you have is different in some way, could you please provide a picture of where it states "Play movies and TV shows from Netflix, live and archived games from MLB, NBA, and NHL, and videos from YouTube and Vimeo" on the box.

Thank you for the reply Winston. Is there something you can do to help? I will be happy to put the effort into sending you the image if the final outcome is that progress can be made towards Netflix working on my Apple TV otherwise it is pointless wasting your and my valuable time.
I'm looking for a solution or an update from Netflix/Apple as to their plans for Netflix to work on ATV in the UAE.
To note the customer services number on the Netflix site is an "0800" clearly set up for the US and so does not work or cater to the needs of international customers, making them non-contactable and therefore completely pointless.
I move back to the UK in July so can wait out the time if need be, its just a shame as I originally said that the product does not do what it says it does "on the tin".
If you are able to help with positive action/a solution I will happily send the photo.
PS I do not want a refund or to return the product.

In reply to the comment "You seem to be saying that the box that you have is different in some way". I'm actually not saying that at all as I have no idea what your box says and therefore can't comment.
And unless you're on the packaging design or distribution teams it would be a giant leap to presume every single box around the world is the same based on the product being the same.
As a marketing person I know companies of all sizes and shapes tailor their products to cater for individual markets. E.g. coca cola cans have different designs based on distribution location and languages used in particular countries and even the product itself can differ, although this may not be the case with Apple of course.
I'm simply describing what is on my box and I don't neccessarily mean to be abrupt however I certainly wouldn't waste my time typing on this forum to say the box says something when it actually does not.
Let me know if you can postively affect the outcome of this problem/help in someway and I'll be sure to send the image.

As you are well aware there is no solution to your issue, NetFlix is simply not available in the UAE.
On the other matter you have made a serious complaint, and accused Apple of false advertising. If this is the case I am sure that Apple would wish to know about this and attend to the matter. It occurs to me one of the following has occurred:
- Apple are incorrectly marketing their products in your location.
- You have been sold a counterfeit product.
- You have made a mistake and assumed that NetFlix is available in the UAE.
If either of the first two points are correct, Apple should be aware of this and I urge you to provide an image of the box so that your claim can be verified. If the latter is correct, you should retract your statement and make it clear that you were mistaken.

I do not intend to accuse rather express my opinion. On one side of the box my camera can not focus on the writing as it is too small, roughly 1mm in height it says in amongst other text "Services are not available in all countries" so Apple is clearly covered so to speak. However, it my opinion that the description in the image below which is larger is still misleading at point of purchase, as mentioned previously it states....
"Play movies and TV shows from Netflix, live and archived games from MLB, NBA, and NHL, and videos from YouTube and Vimeo." (see left hand side of TV screen in image)

I note that the text on the box is in English only. This suggests that the Apple TV has not been packaged for the UAE, and the problem lies with the reseller who is selling this item, I assume it was not purchased from an Apple Store.
Of note, your box is not the same as mine, indeed mine is written in multiple languages, does not mention NetFlix at all or the US sports channels, and is clearly aimed at a market outside the US.
It seems now, that the fault lies with the reseller, not making it clear that you are purchasing an import. Of course I have no idea about local legislation in your location, but would have to assume it is not acceptable.

Well, if anything we've learned Apple do tailor their packaging for different markets!
I'll just wait until I get back to the UK to use Netflix if it works there. Otherwise I'll use it for Vimeo, YouTube and iTunes streaming only.
I'm over the disappointment now. Thanks for taking the time reply.

I know this is a late reply, but i figured out a way to make NetFlix work in Dubai with my apple Tv.
You can also make it work with your PS3, iPad etc.
Just follow the instructions on this website.
