Thanks but that's what I tried to do yesterday, and like I said, I was able to unlock the "lock", but then when I typed in the same password as "old password", it did not accept it. I gave up trying yesterday and asked my son if he changed it. He claims innocence. But now, when I go to to Accounts, it won't even let me open the "lock"!!!! Aagghhh! What does a person do if they forget their password? There must be a way for me to change my password. <<frustration>>

On the 10.6 Apple note posted above, did you undo the twistie that says "Resetting the original account password"? Did you get out your original OS X gray-faced disk and boot to it it change the password?
