    At least you can get email on your iPhone.  Mine just spins that timer wheel and says "checking mail" without ever getting any.

     

    How long is this going to continue, Apple?!?!?!

    Count me also as one of the 1% -- and I thought I was safe from iCloud problems.

     

    I was forced to update to Lion from a working-just-fine Snow Leopard and, after myriad screwups with Calendar and Contacts on my Mac, iPhone and iPad, I disabled any and all automatic "Cloud" updates. Like someone else above, I've now erased the same eight emails about 10-12 times. Not to mention the fact I'm going to have to spend upwards of $400 to update third-party software that's not supported on Lion.

     

    Not Apple's finest moment.

    ooh, so sad!  important to get into emails today and once again unable to!  sure would like apple to let us know what is going on so we don't spend so much time trying to get things to work.  (perhaps a message as soon as you open your mail account?) 

    i have spent years chiding my friends with microsoft computers, letting them know just how wonderful apple is....surely hope they are not going the way of microsoft! 

     

    and.....if this is something some kind of joker has pulled, please put your talents, initiative and creativity into doing something much more constructive----perhaps----world peace!  damnit

    Update (4/18):

     

    I finally got ahold of the rep I working with on this issue. I scheduled a callback through Express Lane and by a simple twist of fate, I got my original rep.

     

    Basically, in the time since I originally called about this issue (8 days and counting...), absolutely nothing has been done to fix it.

     

    I was assured and reassured that they are "working diligently on it.... looking into it....just hang in there...etc." I asked to speak with a supervisor because I feel as though this issue has not been handled professionally, and I have a case history going back more than several weeks about this very speific problem. I was placed on hold for a few minutes, when the rep returned, I was told that their engineers had looked into my e-mail more than a few times and have not been able to replicate the issue.

     

    I have sent two video screen captures and several screenshots, highlighting the specific issue I am having. The rep confessed that the issue is indeed on Apple's end but there is no estimated time of completion about this or any other issue.

     

    Both yesterday and today (Wednesday, April 18) seem to be the worst it has ever been; this issue has been going on (for me) since February. This morning, I tried to check mail on my iPhone, and I was greeted with: "Cannot Get Mail – The username and password for "iCloud" is incorrect. [Settings] [OK]"

     

    In the meantime, I have switched my primary e-mail provider back to Yahoo!, forwarding all of my incoming mail from iCloud to that address, and will be using Yahoo from now on. As it sits right now, my account is in limbo, no-one at Apple knows what is going on except that they're "investigating" the issue. I managed to secure a refund on the extra storage I purchased for my account (prorated of course).

     

    Apple makes some of the best hardware and software out there but something simple like reliable e-mail, well, it just not in the cards for them. I'm increasingly more inclined to believe that they are silencing this issue as much as they can to avoid negative press.

     

    Personal Note: I know more than a few people are thinking this already but I'm going to say it anyway: I have a feeling that if the late Steve Jobs was still there, this would not be happening. It's like this whole thing is MobileMe all over again.... (July 2008, anyone?)

    Although the Icloud support says all services are restored that is not true, I am still not getting mail on desktop client. Endless spinning wheel and no "activity" in monitor...

    I thought the same earlier this morning but it does now ( 1110 GMT) seem to be better - email is pushed to desktop as well as iCloud webmail

    It seemed to help to restart Mail (and OS X) but it may just have been coincidence -  all my tinkering and resetting etc. of Mail accounts may have upset the poor darlings -  it's a bit like a car that won't start - you fiddle with so many things in desperation that when it does eventually start, you cannot be sure what was the angel dust that did the trick - - but I am not wildly impressed with the information and help emanating from Apple, I must say.

    Today is 4/22 and icloud mail still won't work for me.  Have the spinning wheel, can't get mail on lap top or iphone.  Went to windows, pulled up I cloud mail and it worked for a while.  Don't know what the issue is.

    Try running "Connection Doctor" in Apple Mail's window menu before initiating a "get mail" and see where the issue is at.

    Change your password and throw a few numbers and capitals in there. I had the same issue a few weeks ago. Changed my password = sorted. Simples :)

    Yes, there is a server outage currently affecting the UK and possibly some other areas. It's nothing to do with server settings as suggested in the several months old posts above.

    Not just the UK. I'm on East Coast, USA. It's been down all day. No communication from Apple, which is ridiculous, at this point. They need to either fix it or tell us what's going on.

    Here in the Washington DC metro area... been down since 10:57 PM EDT last night. Really getting disappointed.
