Apr 22, 2012 7:29 PM in response to CorkyO2by largla,Yes, I had downloaded the trial version. It has lapsed for a while. I tried to download it and a window said it was already installed. I checked the Application folder and yes it was there. Clicked the icon and a window said the trial period had ended and to go to the Apple menu and look for an upgrade. Result no upgrade available. Again tried to drag the App to the trashcan, no luck. Tried the App store to purchase. Again says it is already installed and the loop continues.

Apr 22, 2012 8:00 PM in response to larglaby Frank Caggiano,The App Store won;t let you download as long as Aperture is in your Applications folder. You need to delete it. In Lion that can be more difficult then it has to be, make sure the account you are logged into is an Admin account. Drag Aperture from the Applications folder to the trash. You might need to enter your password to authenticate the deletion.
Once Aperture is deleted you can download it from the App Store. If you have nay work in the trial library it will still be there after you install the App Store version.

Apr 22, 2012 8:07 PM in response to larglaby CorkyO2,Did you empty the trash after dragging the Aperture.app to the trashcan?
If so, you might try the 'Reinstalling' procedure at the bottom of this page for the trial version to remove the program including the Terminal command and make sure to empty the trash.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
Log out of the Mac App store before running the Terminal command and then log back in to purchase.
If that still doesn't work, you might try the following:
Delete any Aperture folders from the following locations:
'/Library/Application Support'
'/Library/Caches'
'~/Library/Application Support'
'~/Library/Caches'
Also delete any 'com.apple.Aperture.plst' file(s) in '~/Library/Preferences'
Note - use the 'Go' menu while pressing Option key to access '~/Library' folder.
Make sure there is no Aperture System ID file mentioned in the link below (there shouldn't be with the Trial, but stranger things have happened):
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3231
Post back as needed.

If you only have one account, I'm guessing it is the accoubt you made when you first brought up the machine the it is an admin account. To double check go to System Preferences->Users & Groups. Look for this checkmark in the screen that opens:
So what troubles are you having when you try to drag the Aperture out of the app folder? Any messages? Describe what happens as completely as you can.
