there's the SDK for the AU plugin, but I don't think you'll find anything for a layout extension. Graphical controls are limited (like you can't change fonts for example) because anything slightly wrong could block MS completely.
anyway if you place a text control on your layout you can write different text for each patch, i don't know if this could work as you expect.

thank you for responding! But doesn't sound very promising.
I like to implement more or less a small text processor, to load lyrics and translate them into readable Lyrics and chords. Sounds like that wouldn't be easily done ...

There's a very good software on iPad that does this, with autoscroll, internet search and dropbox. Here's the link:
In italian it's called "Canzoniere" but I'm not sure if the name gets translated too.
(the downside of writing software nowadays is that probably someone already did what you think of ;-) )

yeah - and there is also an application for Mac: ChordPro Buddy -> www.gfApps.com/chordprobuddy
And what I want to do, is a seamless integration into the Mainstage application, so you don't have to switch between the apps...
Sorry for the shameless selfplug ...

Sorry for what? It's wonderful to have developers paying attention to the music industry!
