Have just imported footage from my new panasonic GH2, into FCP. Footage shot 720 60 p is appearing as an exagerated 16.9 image.[ stretched out and not fitting the window. Project has footage from panasonic HVX 200 720 24p appearing normally.

How do i set the sequence setting to render an image that fits correctly in my sequence.  Want  to actually mix these 2 different frame rates within the same seq., Hope this is possible?

Also am importing directly from the camera, when I put no name folder in it's own folder on my hardrive, was unable to access it. Called the shop where I bought camera and they said one imports directly off the camera.

There is nothing online that I can find to explain what to do.

FCP doesn't edit the format that camera shoots natively. Fine for shooting, but not for editing. At least not in FCP.  You need to convert all that footage to ProRes, THEN import it.

Might be coming in anamorphic.  Check the Anamorphic box in the browser. That should do the trick.

Look at the columns at the top.  Scroll to the right.  You'll find it.

Log and Transfer brings in the footage in the format it was shot. If it comes in 1080p24...then you shot it that way. FCP doesn't convert anything when it imports via Log and Transfer.

    Sorry about that.

Yeah, you can mix the formats. FCP will scale 1080 to fit 720.  The footage remains 1080...but it shrinks (scale wise...It'll be like 80% or something) when you use it with a 720p timeline.

What FCP will not do is import/convert from what you shot to another format.

Wish I could help. I haven't dealt with GH2 footage. I can't fathom why it would come in looking squished.  What are the dimensions FCP is reporting?
