Hi! i don't know, how to find which  version of iPhoto i am using but i using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b), which us just updated a few days ago, on my macbook pro 13" i5 320gig.

.usually when i plug in my ipad2 or my android phone, iPhoto opens up automatically and asks if i wish to transfer photos. this was happening properly, till the last time i opened my macbookpro, i.e three days ago.

- till then it was working perfectly.

- there is no error message, just the top right corner says "iPhoto, file, edit..ectc" but doesn't open the iPhote window.

- i've tried opening iPhoto through the search on the top right corner of the screen. but to no effect.

please help.

See if iPhoto > Preferences > General still has iPhoto selected beside Connecting Camera Opens.

please help as iPhoto is not opening even after clicking on the icon or clicking iPhoto.app from the finder. is there any other way to view the photos, like one can see on windows photo manager?

OK, now your photos, firstly should be in your pictures folder, iTunes Library or perhaps Default (rebuilt). Go there first and control click on it. you should see folders with your pictures in them. That will reassure you for a start that you haven't lost any photos. Do you have a current backup? If not do so now and then you can try rebuilding iPhoto.

A couple of simple things to try first. Go to System Preferences > Users and Groups and set up a new account and log out then log back in using the new user. This will just see if it's corrupted just in the Admin account or throughout the system.

Is your system backed up? Do you have the iLife disc with iPhoto on it?

I would suggest booting your system by holding down Command + R and reinstalling your Time Machine backup from the day before you updated iPhoto. Any other additions of data etc will still be in your very latest backup.
