No luck but thanks I hadn't tried that one yet. Anything else would be tried also. Would heat be part of an issue? I do not think that's the main issue due to the many complaints from pc and Mac users. There's gotta be a patch it's the only player I have and format that causes this.

does anyone know any software that can remove the DRM properly so that a paying customer like myself can watch a movie purchased from itunes.
We cannot discuss the removal of DRM in these forums.
is there another legal means to buy movies online without the BS of DRM
No, not on any platform. All legal sellers of movies I know of are required by the movie studios to have DRM.
I don't know what specific steps you've tried, but you might review this support document and see if there is a suggestion you've not attempted yet:
Regards.iMac, Mac OS X (10.7), Core i7 Radeon 4850 8GB

Yeah been down the support road. Tried a few other "outside" sources as well. These are my first posts on the forum and frankly my only posts on any forum that should spell out my wits end. As for the countless other posts that have pleas for a solution to this not so uncommon scenario on this and other forums I cannot understand why there are no solid solutions. Are the requirements understated? My CPU passes the minimum requirements and I can play video via other players like VLC or Windows Media player. So what is it about iTunes/QuickTime ..... there must be a fix.
The standard issue apple suggestions were the first to try and a few others after.
Since this is not streaming but playing of purchased movies would "security" software cause a drag? I have service provider software which is not easily turned off and should not be with all the users kids ect. There is no other programs running as far as task manager shows up front. Just want to watch my purchases movies!

I was having this problem and it was actually related to the syncing of my devices. I used wireless sync to sync my iphone and pad and everyitme a synced kicked off it would trash my video playback. I disconnected the networking to stop the wireless syncing and the movie played back flawlessly.
