I bought Iogear Gwu625-01 USB adaptor and it's great. I'd still like a software fix though.

Guys I found the way!!! This happened unintentionally.

Just use Firefox , it works! 5 days now and wifi signal has never broken so I'm thinking the problem isn't in osx , its in safari!

That's nothing to do with it. If you have an improvement then it's co-incidental with your change to Firefox.

I'm with the same problem. Every day at least one time my wifi connection drop and I need to connect manualy. Every time that this occurs, I receve that message at the console:

kernel: AirPort: Link Down on en1. Reason 2 (Previous authentication no longer valid).

    I'm using the Airport Extreme.

I already tryed a lot of things, but nothing solve for me.

The funny thing is internet runs fine when I use Windows bootcamp and keeps dropping in the same machine. I tried turned off bluetooth (as I read somewhere saying the interference between bluetooth and wifi signal too) and internet works as well, but then i have no keyboard to use. I've been trying tons of solutions but non of them works, this is really ******* everybody off.

I also have the same problem ; wifi drops periodically and quite randomly.

I sent a bug report to the Apple team. They got back in touch with me, asking me to run the get-mobility-info commnad during the wifi loss and after disabling/re-enabling the wifi (which is the only solution that brings it back)

But they didn't come back to me since.

In the mean time, I suggest you use the ethernet cable if you can ; I have never experienced this problem when connected this way. But it is quite a problem, since this problem occurs since Lion came out.

This issue has gotten worse for me; I now have to manually turn Wi-Fi off and on several times before it will reconnect.  As such the workaround I posted previously isn't working as reliably as it once did, so I finally threw in the towel and spent $15 on a Sapido AU-4912 Mini USB 2.0 Network Adapter from Amazon.

I've had it for 4 days now and it hasn't dropped the connection once.  It's interesting to see the internal Wi-Fi continue to go down every so often (via the Wi-Fi indicator in the menu bar) while the USB adapter keeps working.

I'm not affiliated with Sapido in any way, I just noticed it's tiny, has several good reviews, and is inexpensive.  I only sit  a few feet from my Wi-Fi router so it doesn't have far to go for a signal.  I haven't tried it across the house yet to see how far it will work.

Same here, MBPro 17". Ever since installing Lion I'm plagued with wi-fi dropping several times over a day. Haven't noticed this on my iMac.

I have been following this forum for about 6 months now. It appears that people have different symptoms and some have discovered fixes, although temporary and often different. I "bumped-into" one suggested fix and I tried it. It seems to work ... partially.

Before, my MacPro and MacBook would lose Internet connectivity about every other day. To regain it, the computers needed to be restarted. I read a thread about turning off Bluetooth to avoid a potential conflict with the 2.4GHz channel.  EUREKA !  It worked ... partially. I had to store my Bluetooth Mighty Mouse and and substitute it a wired USB version, but that was OK.

RESULTS:  Good News and OK news.   For a whole month now, my MacPro has not lost connectivity. As for my MacBook, I still lose connectivy, but much less often. Sometimes the MacBook will give me the "You are not connected to the Internet" message, but after 5-10 seconds it will establish the link. A few times, I find that I have to turn the WiFi off and then on. This always re-establishes the connection and restarting is not longer required.

So for now, I can livew with these minor inconveniences until Apple releases a fix.

Safari is at the application layer. Our problem is lower in the OSI Stack. Not only do Internet Surfer Apps don't work, neither do other network Apps like Skype, Outlook, Mail, Apple Store, etc.

this problem has driven me to distraction.... I am running a new mac desktop and the wifi keeps dropping randomly.... my other apple  devices such a IPad etc arent effected.....Being a humble oldtimer without any real technological skills, i have run only apple for some years... I did so because of the ease and clarity of the products... I am amazed they havent come up with a fix in all this time....and that they don't even admit that there is a problem....come on apple, shake up!!!!

Have someone tried to open a case with Apple? I'm very lazy these days, and I'm not planning to do that now, but if someone already done that, than can share with us the conclusions of the Apple Team, or those Genius Guys.

Are you kidding?  Lazy?  I'd say just plain ignorant.  Apple can only fix what they know is a problem, and they can only address the issues that are reported to them.  If you expect anything to change, you need to participate in Apple's support machinery.  Like it or not, if you don't use it, it can't possibly make any difference in what you are experiencing...
