Late reply, but perhaps will help newer users of Apple Discussions: Apple does not read these forums.

I've got the same problem (Battery - Not Charging), however, when I turn my laptop off and leave it plugged in over night it does charge... slowly. Managed to get it back to 92%.

You may like to try the same.

I have the same issue with Macbook 4,1 (Early 2008)

The charger indicator is green but battery status is always displayed as "Battery is not charging".

For me the solution was to get the proper charger: the MacBook Air charger is not powerful enough...you have to use the power cable for the MacBook Pro, which is a bit bigger.

That helped solve the issue? I've been using a 2010 MacBook Pro L-shape charger since I bought my Blackbook 1 week ago (Macbook4,1), yet one of the batteries still says "Not Charging". The primary battery is somehow confused and thinks that it's charging while it's been stuck at 0% for over 30 mins. I wish apple would extend the battery recall from '09, because it seems like a fair amount of people are experiencing issues with these batteries

Ok so for me this is what worked:  Mid-2007 Black Macbook.  It's a silly fix but it sure did solve the problem.

The light on the magsafe was green but dim and it wouldn't charge my Macbook.  So I took a toothpick and cleaned out the power port (with the Macbook off and unplugged of course).  There was something similar to a plastic-type of film covering the metal surface of the power port.  Once I dug most of this out I plugged the magsafe back in, got a BRIGHT green light which subsequently went amber and even though the battery has 1102 cycles it's charging like normal as we speak.  I hope this works for everyone else!

Good to hear! It does seem like a fair amount of people's batteries cannot charge due to buildup of material in the MagSafe port. Just had the battery cable and MagSafe board replaced on my Early 08 MacBook, batteries still don't charge, so it looks like I may need a logic board replacement

SOLVED IT!!!!!! had the same problem for months , bought a new battery and it was the same , but ....... i looked at the magsafe charger and see that the middle pin of the 5 was stuck back into the charger end so with a sharp knife i just tried to wiggle it and voila it popped out in line with the others and now my charger is working fine and charging my battery as we speak ;0

Good to hear that fix worked for you. Turns out that a motherboard replacement fixed my issue, but the battery is still holding up well, with 90% capacity after about 640 cycles

thuantvc: it sounds like your battery is dead. Since your MBP is only a year or two old and the battery has less than 300 cycles in it, you should be able to take it to the genius bar (if you have an apple store nearby), and their diagnostics (free even without warranty) usually say whether the battery died by itself or naturally over time. If the battery died by itself, they would probably replace it for free

The battery and charging port both died at same time odd. Bought an external charger and 2 batteries vs bringing it to apple store. Since the sound died on my Mac book 2 months after I bought it and the apple store in fashion valley told me that wasn't covered under the warranty and wanted $1100.  So I was sure they would try to rip me off again.

Anyone have any answers yet? I have a green light with not charging and replace now on. I checked the magsafe and am getting the proper voltage. Coconut battery is saying the current capacity is 3672mAh with 168 load cycles but a 0 charge. MniBatteryLogger is saying the same cycle count of 168 and a voltage of 9234. System Info is full charge is 3673mAh, 168 cycle count, 9234 voltage and 0 charge count remaining.. I have done the pram and smc reset and still a no go. Any new ideas?
