It has been awhile - hopefully my memory is OK.
Highlight any existing PDF file on your computer (don't open it). Then go to the file menu. Open with should give you the available choices. As I recall, this sets the option globally.

I have the same issue mentioned by Barry. I can view pdf file on screeen but for printing and saving, it becomes blank.
