Pages and Numbers Not Syncing in iCloud

    Many of these above problems were solved by resetting iPad completely (I have no iPhone).

    At least, it helped for me!

    you speak so much sense. I can't add or detract from what you say. Although lots of good folk are offering a work around that should not be necessary. Mac, iPad and iPhone should stay perfectly in sync and not even have to laboriously go through iTunes.

    Clearly the Mac is one of "all your devices." 


    Clearly "automatically" should not mean "You have to go to and manually upload and download the files yourself."


    Care to respond, Apple?

    I AGREE 100% I despise the way that I cloud has been advertised it is a JOKE.


    When I made my purchase, an ipad to go with my iphone and my mac computure I made it CLEAR that the ONLY reason for buying an ipad was to be able to access an excel or numbers document anywhere at any time I am in and out my office frequently and I mentioned the KEY feature was the "iCloud automatically keeps your documents up to date across all your devices. So you don’t have to."

    IT DOES NOT DO THIS     do not buy into the icloud myth, the staff at the apple store when I made my purchase did not mention the upload download component at all and when I explaned the issue I am having witht he icloud at a later date many of t he staff didn't even know that the cloud had these requirements?!! Staff actaully scoffed saying well whats the point of the cloud then if you are uplading and downloading all day?!?!?!?!

    To overcome this, I bought drop box but this does not work either.. Why? because numbers and all the iwork products don't have a save function they save back to the icloud regaurdless of it being turned on or off.. so drop box never recieves an updated version making it useless to.

    I have had to explain this isssue to MAC so many times I am sick of being on the phone to them I am sick of explaing myslef over and over again.

    Mac truely I cloud is a joke I have been such a great supported and I know this is not the place but I have laways encourgaed people to use your devices but after this NO WAY I am s o disappointed by the lack of staff knowledge and the FALSE ADVERTISING that I didn;t expect from you guys,

    I wpould love some one to contact me, I have WASTED HOURS lookign for a solution, I want a refund on not just the ipad but all the ****** apps I have paid for!! SO DISAPPOINTING!!! so for repreating everyone else's commenets but I REALY needed a RANT, DISGUSTED!!!!

    To their credit, when I wrote to iTunes Billing Support and demanded a refund for Keynote on iOS and OS X, and for Pages on iOS, I received a very polite and apologetic letter along with the notice of the refund being approved, and this occurred within an hour of my writing to them.

    I am in full agreement with all of these well-justified rants.  Can anyone say 'false advertising'.  Some money was spent buying ios apps and upgrading to lion.  This situation is a lawyer's dream come true.  (I am personally not interested in a class action lawsuit, or even a refund, I just want this to work)  


    I've been using macs forever and once in a blue moon, I get so frustrated that I consider bailing just for spite.  Looks like the moon is blue once again. I just got a new macBook with Lion this week.  When I figured out that syncing in the cloud was not occuring, I went searching on line.  I am especially dumbfounded that this thread was started in October of 2011 and still there is no  Apple-sanctioned solution, or even token effort toward a solution.  I would settle for a vacuous promise (oh wait, I already got that). 


    As one poster said 'this will all be solved with Mountain Lion'.  Whether that is true or not, it should also work in Lion.  I'm not willing to spend any more money on this, and will likely just spend an hour switching cloud documents to a new service.  My mac has traditionally been my information/data hub for all of my other devices.  Apple suggested that my new 'hub' would be in the icloud and that if I was willing to buy a bunch of new software I could stop worrying about document versions across devices/locations.


    In order for the cloud to be an effective solution, you must be able to trust that the provider of your cloud service will handle files in a seamless manner and that you won't have different versions of a document when you switch devices.  Without trust, this is no better than a usb stick that I might easily misplace or damage.   Leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.  And, yes, I am totally being a big baby about this, but there are other solutions already out there.  So why in the world would  I continue waiting around for apple to "automatically keeps your my documents up to date across all your my devices. So you I don’t have to."

    Your comments are well made.  There must be seamless syncing between all iOS devices and all Macs irrespective of age.  At the moment the means for syncing are cumbersome and archaic.

    I'm sure it's old news by now, but I think OS X Mountain Lion will add the ability to do iCloud stuff automatically.  I would assume that, at least.  iCloud has an obvious weakness here, so Apple will amend it eventually, and considering how Mountain Lion bridges the gap between iOS and OS X even more, it only makes sense that iCloud will be a big part of that.

    Old news? We all hope so. But, if that wish is true, why is Apple keeping it a secret. No apple tech I have talked to, Apple Care or in store people including the Genius Bar, will commemnt on it. And, if ML addresses this problem, will iCloud syncing be totally seamless for all products? Right now my 8g stick is my best friend; even Back to My Mac does not always work.

    Until Mountain Lion comes along a fairly quick workaround is with MediaMaster Server - free from AppStore. It lets you transfer files easily between Mac and iPad via WebDAV - one of the options that iWork does support.

    agreed, i bought into apples promise of ditching mobileme & idisk in favour of the cloud to sync all my documents automatically. i remember those great announcements and ads that showed documents flying through the air onto all your devices. so sad that the solution is actually unusable. this is so reminicent of my old microsoft system, forcing a move to a system that is worse than what was before. apple needs to either provide us a central storage system (icloud) for aour document to sync between ALL of our devices not just the IOS ones leaving our main data on our OSX behind. i totally regret buying my ipad now that it seems i need a macbook to haul around all my documents, which i am NOT buying.

    I recently bought a MacBookPro 13 to complete the set of iPhone/iPad/Mac computer - all "supposedly" seamlessly synced via iCloud. I've struggled with my MBP since I got it, trying to figure out why my docs sync just fine between iOS devices but NOT to the MBP. I just dumped $1,200 into a worthless, old-fashioned stand-alone laptop (I already had a good PC laptop) and another $500 in apps to bring it up to  business speed. It's very nice that my email, contacts and calendar sync perfectly ... but I could have had that and kept my bucks.


    I really appreciate this forum. I had to do a lot of searching to find it - this must be one of Apple's best kept secrets!


    I certainly HOPE Mountain Lion brings REAL integration to all Apple products as already advertised. I find it hard to believe Apple would blatantly lie to (or, to give them the benefit of the doubt, deceive) loyal customers in the initial iCloud promotions. BTW, those initial claims are still right there on the Apple website for all to  swallow. I consider this an extremely expensive lesson - I dared to believe Apple was better than the competition.

    There might be an option to get it least it helped me what the apple phone support told me...


    Delete your ICloud account on the device that does not snyc well and set it up again from the scratch. Sounds pretty simple but since I did it there were no more sync issues on my devices!

    Does this apply to the MBP as well, or just the iOS devices? Because there's no problem with  iOS devices syncing with each other. It's the MBP that's left out of the loop.

    I did not try to get my MBP into the loop problem was with the IPhone 4S after the first IOS upgrade it simply refused to sync ocassionally.
    Would try my MPB as well but I am worry to upgrade the OS...need it for daily work and don´t want to risk loosing it for some days...
