Can the width of a text box in vertical layout be changed? My client would like the text to be wider. The answer to this question is, I believe, no. So, what I would really like to do is confirm that it cannot be done. Thanks.

Layout in landscape....edit content in portrait. Experiment with various widths in landscape to see if they perform to your needs in portrait.

Specifically, I would like to use the iBooks classic template (but my question applies the others as well). Is it OK to create a chapter using a Chapter page and then follow the Chapter page with a Section page that is named Forward in the template? IBooks Author allows me to do this, no problem. But should I? Are these pages generic, and will this book structure be valid when the book is submitted?

Generic. Just be sure to test how it works on a device as it initially loads versus moving to the next page and/or chapter. Resist single page chapters as much as possible.

I'd suggest to take a break and explore some of the iBA templates that have come out recently - you may find one that is exactly what you need and/or examples that will help validate your concepts.

    Good luck.

    Ken
