what you can do is go to settings->general->sound and then enable the sound effects to be controlled with the buttons. When your going to sleep, you can use the buttons to turn the sound effects off. Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply. I tested this overnight and it worked
However now I kinda have the opposite problem. In the daytime (when my ipad sound is turned on) I don't get any notification sounds. LOL! So problem is solved but another one has appeared instead. I have a Smart cover if that's at all relevant....
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Sorry for the late reply hadnt checked in ages..
anyway, so maybe when you wake up, you can use the buttons again to turn the notification sounds up. I know its quite irritating that you have to keep switching on and off, but i think this is the only way.

Thanks - That's already what I do. Turn the sound off every night anf turn it on every morning. But the notification sounds still don't come though in the daytime when iPad is "sleeping". Guessing it's got something to do with having got a Smart cover with this new iPad....?

Would love to know how to fix this as well as I'm having the same issue on the 'new iPad' and opened a similar thread. Extremely annoying.
