Q: New iTunes security questions

Hello,

iTunes is now asking me to fill in 3 security questions: http://s19.postimage.org/5jz0q6pr7/apple_sec_ques.jpg

1. How can i still use iTunes store and NOT use these security questions?

Why would i not want to use them? Well, i prefer to use a password only i know, not use insecurity questions like "whats your first car?" It's not hard for a whole bunch of people to know that one. Setting these insecurity questions is just giving anyone that vaguely knows me free and easy assess to my account. I DO NOT WANT THAT!

2. How do i make iTunes stop asking my account password every time i want to play songs, download something, or do basically anything in iTunes? It's really irritating to have to put in my password 50 times a week (and nobody else uses this computer.)

I am very gratified that the security questions are gone for me too, and can now buy apps once more!

No idea if they've listened but I cancelled a purchase the other day as I could not think of memorable answers to the questions, then I tried again for same item yesterday and no request for new security questions - weird.

Maybe all this security questioner wasn't from apple? Can any apple supporter give clear message in this topic, about the new security measure? As I am consider now it maybe wasn't apple idea.

I think it was genuine, but can't be sure - several people myself included found it rather odd to appear out of the bluewithout any formal announcement from Apple.

If it was not form Apple though it would not serve much purpose as you did not need to enter any appleID/password just submit a form - having sai dthat who knopws what info that might give someone.

Googling "Apples new security questions" comes up with a lot of legit articles like this one from AppleInsider.

    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/12/04/13/apple_rolls_out_new_security_measu res_for_itunes_app_store.html

    and this one from Macworld

    http://www.macworld.co.uk/ipad-iphone/news/?newsid=3350909

You had me worried there for a second because it is true that I had to put in my user id twice. Once before the questions and once after...YIKES!

It is true that the answers to these questions could be used in targeting ads to you though. I find that interesting.

If you answered your favorite car was a Ferrari, will you soon be getting ads in your iAds for expensive car related products, vehicle insurance and high end clothing? Who knows but if this were Facebook I would bet my bottom dollar on it, but since this is Apple......hummmmmmm????

Oh well it looks as if Apple make be rethinking or redesigning the policy now.

I was reading this articles, but not any of them is straight from apple, that is why I am now really worries. If that was done by apple why they not send any message to customers before they start this new security things.?

Other things which make my concern now, that some apple user can still download app etc. withouth security questions.

It is not like should be , not apple way of customer service.

    It's reminde me Microsoft.

Did I should think to open new account to make sure I am safe, can apple just say clearly - yes that was ouer move to make you more secure because ........

I am agree about targeting ads, it's could be like that, and maye that's why apple stay quiet.

I have nothing to this questions etc., but only if they was to make my account more secure!

I'd wager / am sure it was genuine. Apple sails a pretty tight ship with their App Store. The issue with the security questions only came up as one tried to install or buy a new Application. It is a good idea to beef up security, but it was just poorly executed with those questions aimed at the 20-yr old crowd.

If somehow it had not been genuine, Apple certainly would have stopped it really fast. If it was some breach of the Apple Store they'd shut the App Store down if necessary, till it was resolved and we'd all get a notice, it'd be all over the news.

If true, that some people never answered the three questions and now can make new purchases, in all likely hood,  a small flood of feedback has gone through a few avenues and reach the right desk to push it back for revision.

I will not buy anything from Apple again on line if I have to add to my many many pages of ID and PW more **** to remember. I can't rember all this stuff. One solution is to answer every question the same, like a seocnd layer PW. That's worked for some sites, but Apple wants all the answers to be different. I won't do it. too much. Sell your Apple stock.

The problem is that questions not something I think about, so difficult to answer.  I did answer them, and the system did let me buy something, but I saved q's and answers  in a file on my computer as I'm not confident I will remember them. completely insecure I know, but if I am not at home when I forget my password (or type it in wrong and then forced to answer these Q's that aren't important to me, I'll need them.  It would have been better to offer more questions, or have us write our own.  There are time when simplicity is good; this is not one of them.    Good forbid I forget my password and have to answer them again, so I will write down my password too to avoid that.   But even so, you can't make me go back to Windows.  Oh wait, I already have to for work, and it's not pretty.

    Hi Apple,

Same problems here. These questions make my account less secure, Apple please remove them.

iTunes has become a stupid App becauser you have let the business team take over the UI design. I want to play music, not answer questions and type my password in 20 times a day. Go and read Steve Jobs' book and keep the UI designed for the user, not your buiness team.

    Thanks!

Just to add one more vote here - from someone old enough to have been there professionally for the earliest Macs.

Simply, I will not buy more from iTunes until this idiotic security question business is resolved.

One question -- ok. No date of birth. Alternate email? Optional only.

No more monkey business like this.

And surely no more monkey business like changing to a new discussion -- and then refusing to let me join that discussion when I sign in.

Are you kidding, in what you are doing? Quickest way to destroy all the enjoyment and value Apple built.

You seem to have entirely forgotten that you have competition, like the Android Google Play-Market my device would prefer I use.

Very disappointed - and more so when I read some of the earlier commenters, who get a stonewall instead of replies.

totally agree with you buddy. I'M NOT DOWNLOADING ANYTHING UNTIL I DON'T HAVE TO GIVE UP MY INFORMATION. I've had this same phone for 3 years now and NOW they want to ask all of these questions to make sure it's me.

I get it...some(a lot) of people are dumb and won't think anything about the real purpose to why they are asking so many personal questions.

what they do is all different kinds of companies that are very similar in many ways(like sharing information to make a stupid huge amount of $money$) all give you default personal questions they want to know about you and someone else superior to all of them have a program that will combine and distinguish where all of this information is coming from by i.p. addresses. They take the info and group similar nouns at certain times and see when certain logins from certain screen names and eventually, 3 QUESTIONS every few months from the people who don't think anything of it will have no privacy at all. They will know everything. Think about that next time you are prompted to ask and answer questions.

They also can tell what kind of person you are just by the questions you picked, the order you picked them and the answers.

They do these things sometimes for more than money. They do them for dominance to make more money and to take resources and hog them to themselves and regulate it. And yes I smoked a fattie as I was typing all of this. But think about it. We need to be more perceptive.

And Apple needs to at least give people their privacy. We don't have much else. The people making these decisions are people just like everyone else.

Just because your brain tells you that you're dominant, doesn't mean you're any different than any other human. We are equal. Leave me alone.

we already lost our right to live peacefully within our homes. they can come in and take whoever they want for whatever reason they want to give. or none at all. they also have the right to remain silent and they will use it. they are going to use this info combined with others' info and find reasons to **** with people. its going to be fantastic! genius plans for the dominant  groups who think they aren't human or something. haha

I wonder if anybody has yet been asked to answer the questions they have already created and for what reason did the website ask them again????

I thought I would go into my management settings to see if there was an option to change my security answers as I have forgot them. I selected the security and password link and Wham! Ive been hit up with the security questions which prevents me from managing my security, ***!!!
